How would you feel?

Yeah cause if your control over the privacy of your life isn’t being taken advantage of, then you need to join the modern world and enjoy real life dystopia like the rest of us!! Heh. Plebs.

My “adaptation” will be a refund as I will be unable to access the product. My reasoning for not having a valid phone number is honestly irrelevant. It shouldn’t be the only way. I guess that’s another incentive to get into apex and drop overwatch. Was having some hype for overwatch 2 but now it’s poisoned. Obviously there is more blizzard white knighting in here than sympathy. Glad some folks give a carpe at least. Blizzard will lose my money. Maybe the finacial folks will say it’s not a big enough dent to make a different. That I don’t matter. Whatever. I obviously cannot control or influence the actions of a major company. I can only control myself. I’ll get my refund and find a competitor to spend it on. This kind of companywide practice makes me not want to buy dragonflight either. I can’t remember if I’ve pre ordered it yet. If I have I’ll refund. If not I won’t buy it. Because if they did it with ow2 they can do it with wow and so it’s better to get out now.

No one with the power to change things cares. Not enough of the “common folk” seem to care. So nothing will change. So I’m just SoL cuz I won’t be getting a postpaid phone.

Why do Ie ven bother trying to fight against these things. It’s clearly an ant trying to move a mountain. It won’t budge. Maybe a million ants coould, but one ant can’t.

Idk I was just hoping to not get shut out of games because of a non game related choice I made that harms no one.

Guess that was too optimistic of me.

The nay sayers win this one. I don’t matter. No one effected by this matters. It’s unlikely to effect blizzards bottom line enough to matter.

I’ll continue to play games and with companies that don’t do this. Vote with my money is the only power I have even if it’s insufficient as a single person.

Is this a real question on how F2P games are easier to smurf in than P2P games?

But you do. Too bad so sad.

Still laughably small

OW 2 is F2P brother. You’re not a paying customer.

Got some examples of ones that aren’t already being used?

Let’s not be melodramatic. You’re already willingly giving them your address, your bank account information, and your email just to play this game.

More power to them. Sorry the game doesn’t work out for them

I bought the pack thingie, plus I bought the original overwatch. So yes I am objective a paying customer. Also not your brother.

You bought the battlepass for a game you allegedly can’t even play?

Hmmmmmmm

Oh sorry pal

If only people such as yourself had some basic empathy the world would probably be a better place. Imagine if to play a game you wanted to play. Let’s say WoW. You want to play wow and suddenly you find out you need to buy a xbox and keep and xbox premium subscription thingie. Even though you play wow on PC. Or some other thing was gating you from playing. Something you couldn’t realistically acomplish. Imagine how it would feel if you were in my shoes. Imagine if you had to get a pre paid phone. Or that your phone company was considered invalid for some reason. Imagine actually being the one excluded and maybe you’ll be less mean.

Losing access to something cuz of an unrelated lifestyle choice is pretty freaking garbage. Are you really incappable of imagining that happening to you? To imagine that it’s unfair and shouldn’t happen to anyone? This is exasperating. Someone like you is not worth conversing with.

I bought it long before I knew I couldn’t play? And what do you mean allegedly. I checked the website they won’t accept my phone number and they said it’s required as of the 4th when ow2 fully released. I didn’t even know it was a battlepass. Afaik it was a purchase to play the expansion like the original game had. Maybe I was misinformed. Either way I still am a paying customer.

Ugh…

You’re exasperating. Blocking you for my own mental well being.

Link to your source.

I have empathy for issues that matters. This is a first world problem of first world problems.

“Oh, that’s dumb. I’ll play a different game that’s not dumb”

Or if I already had an xbox with the gamepass I’d just continue business as normal.

You haven’t lost access to a game that hasn’t released yet.

it’s 5 am my man, I’m not gonna look into phone stats for the wow forums lol

I’d put lots of money on the idea that most people are probably on major carriers.

What “phone stats” have been released that will tell you what percentage of wow or blizzard players don’t have a qualifying phone?

It doesn’t matter how much fake money you pretend you would bet. We’re right back to your “trust me” rationale.

It’s not really about empathy. It’s about grooming existing players to spend money to upgrade their systems, upgrade their household goods, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. That will make them easier to convert into proper whales.

Either you’re a whale, a potential whale, or someone who is working on the project of trying to convince potential whales to turn into full blown profit centers, while pushing actual players like you out the door.

Hello, I see you posted a thread about a hypothetical situation. I wouldn’t feel anything, I would just go play something else, haha! Way too many great games out there to worry!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

I’m straight up not going to look up data to satisfy a random on the wow forums at 5 am for an argument I frankly don’t care about.

Most people are using major carriers. Believe what you want.

My eyes just rolled so hard they popped

No shortage of melodrama on the forums this morning lol

Ultimately this problem doesn’t exist for like 99% of players.

That’s what my conclusion is becoming.

There is no data, and you know it. You fabricated it completely.

I would say the same thing to you, since you have zero data about what sort of phone carriers most wow players have.

Again, it’s a lie. You made it up and have no reason to believe your lies are true.

Good. If you can’t handle dealing with people who look at the trend toward grooming people to become whales in videogames, maybe you need to find yourself a new hobby, perhaps one you don’t have to lie about.

More lies! Again, you have no data, so that’s 100% false. Perhaps if you stopped the endless stream of lies you might be able to examine the issue. But I wouldn’t expect that to change.

Oh, he’s replying! I can’t wait to see what phony data he is fabricating this time.

I’m sure the data exists somewhere, I haven’t even looked and I’m not going to. I even admitted to doing so.

I don’t really care, so got me I guess lol

I mean, wouldn’t that be the ideal customer for all business? Why shouldn’t a business do everything in their power get people to spend as much money as possible? You, as a consumer, can just not interact with these businesses if it bothers you so much.

There’s really nothing to examine. This problem doesn’t affect me in the slightest and I don’t really care if it affects you. I will still stand firm by the idea that most people are using major carriers.

Join the modern world, get a phone. If not, there are lots of other games to play.

Like, in 2022 who doesn’t have a phone? lol My dad has one and he doesn’t know how to turn a computer on, c’mon.

Hello, I see you replied to the thread. Haha, my dad is the complete opposite! He knows how to turn a computer on but doesn’t have a phone!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

Overwatch2 will fade away in a month or so, there’s already 0 hype during their beta access. Even their E-sport growth was fake, OW2 is pretty much nothing but budget Valorant.

I would hope in 2022 people would have better reading comprehension. This is about more than just folks without phones that was literally just one group effected. There is also folks with phone numbers in different nations than the region they play in. There is also anyone who uses a prepaid service such as cricket. Or anyone for whatever irrelevant personal reason doesn’t want to give away their phone number. And yes of course those who don’t have a phone. Or only have a voip/wifi but no service.

5 different types of people are negatively impacted by this change. It’s a complete guess I’m not going to pretend I know the actual numbers but based on subjective experiences the number one person running into this issue will be pre-paid phone and number two will be no service device. Since an actual company phone number is the least important part of the phone today. They’re literally minicomputers you just need wifi access and you can use a google number or something similiar. But blizzard doesn’t accept any of that.

The biggest problem isn’t that this doesn’t exist but rather that there is no workaround on blizzards end. No alternative. Personally, I’d be willing to show my face to a GM next to legal ID. Some others might not. So having options is the most logical course of action. Maybe a postpaid phone will work for the majority, but I have a feeling that a non insignficiant number will be negatively impacted. Will it be enough to effort blizzards bottom line? I have no way to know but it still sucks for us effected.

The worse part is this idea will barely effect smurfs who can get a new phone number via calling their provider. It might effect bots a bit more but I’m sure as always they’ll adapt and overcome.
