Loot always drops eventually, but it’s the nature of RNG. I always put my groups together to at least give me an edge on items.
Personal loot has its disadvantages, but it’s a superior system.

The only way to game RNG is to group with toons less likely to roll against you.
My Paladin is in the 40s and is a healer. I rarely ever see a plate or mail piece that has great healing stats on it. So best believe when a cloth drops that will help keep my group alive via better healing, I’m rolling need.
If you want gear in a 5 man, start your own group and don’t invite people who want to roll against you. Easy enough. Why I don’t invite dps Warriors.
to the OP stack your groups.
As a feral tank I run with paladins and priests as healers.
They wont roll agaisnt me.
As a feral tank i run with mages and locks and Spriests.
and ret palis.
As they wont roll agaisnt me.
When i was after my HOJ it was all locks and mages.
When i was after my Mara princess ring. it was locks and mages.
Do the same thing. if you are a hunter build groups with casters.
Here’s how you win loot. Make the group yourself. Reserve items you need. Don’t be a prick and reserve every item you can use in the dungeon–reserve one at a time.
I ran UBRS (Jed/Rend) runs maybe 22 times in the past two days going after Truestrike Shoulders, Mainhand Sword, and Battleborn Armbraces.
I reserved one item and one item only, in any given run. Now, people might say “why reserve items at all, that’s trashy, you’re trash”. Cool—make the group yourself.
But wait! It’s not just as simple as spamming LFG.
If you’ve put in that level of effort to make a run happen, you’re more then entitled to reserve a specific drop that you’re hunting for.
