The trick is to never heal in the first place
I never even got my holy/disc artifacts until after legion. It guarenteed I’d never heal for anything

Hmm I remember back in early Legion when I told my Raid Leader I wanted to heal. I was the top DPS for my guild at that time, not that I am so great at DPSing (I’m not) it was just a pretty casual guild and I out-geared most of them.
I definitely faced some opposition but eventually managed to convince them than playing Disc I would be able to do both Heal and DPS.

I went through the same thing in WoD. Was doing too much dps on most fights in BRF even though I wanted to heal occasionally. They EVENTUALLY let me sub in if we were missing a healer, otherwise… NOPE! Thankfully I enjoyed Shadow with a passion back then
