you want to patent an idea?
good luck with that.

Idea was not a good word, but you know what i meant.
Btw, i just watched the video you posted, thank you for the link. Its the same thing for every industry and common sense too.
I think Twitter is one of the better ways to get your idea seen. I was told by a reliable source () that the in game suggestion tool is actually the worst way to go about it.
Iād imagine gd forums arenāt any better - itās a pretty small sample size of people using it. Not sure about reddit though - I do see lots of blue presence there from time to time
Iāve had my own ideas be implemented, thereās been a few cases of parallel thinking as well. Iāve seen A LOT of communities ideas implemented as well.
It comes down to a few things:
Specifically to respond to IP law/legal jargon: The more specific your idea, the less likely they are to use it. I had a post after MOP was announced for an idea that was almost exactly what Stormstout Brewery turned out to be ā Monkeys getting drunk and causing problems, and barrel mechanic on the first boss. Other mechanics were not used, however. (I think it was a case of parallel thinking, TBH.) But, I didnāt ādesignā a fully-fleshed out idea. It was a concept for a dungeon that we knew nothing about.
While you may not trust developers all the time, they aināt bad. Give them an idea to nudge them in a direction you support. Donāt do their jobs for them, but do tell them what you liked in the past, and what youād like to see in the future.
Spend the next 5-10 years building a reputation as a tester and commentator on twitch or youtube.
Donāt forget the in game suggestion box.
