Sounds like the guild is doing it wrong! ![]()
I can only tell you how it goes in my guild. We’re mostly middle aged (and up!), casual, and friendly. BUT because we’re all older, no one is going to take you by the hand and pull you into the social circle. We assume you’ll socialize, or not, as you prefer.
The most social and group oriented members hang out in Discord. It’s not an “inner circle” or a clique. It’s just that if you’re not in voice chat, you miss out on the ad hoc runs, which is mostly what we do. It only hits gchat if the group doesn’t fill in Discord.
Also, a lot of members who hang out in Discord don’t always watch gchat. So, you might ask in gchat if someone wants a run and go unnoticed.
I just make a habit of hanging out in one of our general channels whenever I’m playing. It’s a good way to meet people and open up opportunities.
Most guilds want to use you and not be used by you. Also, most guilds already have a clique group.
I feel you completely, been like this in the past few guilds i’ve been. My solution was to find a small startup guild that needed my class/role. Don’t have to worry about competing with “senior” members if you’re one of them.
Worked out as i do content with the GM and officers all the time and i’m now part of our Mythic core that we’re starting tomorrow.
Feels good after having being treated like trash in my previous guild.
it’s pretty impossible anymore with the way players are if they been together forever. if you can find a new guild it’s alot easier and hope it builds into something good.
Join a smaller guild. I was an officer of a guild with over 150 unique players and honestly didn’t know like half of our non-raiders and definitely had a clique. I joined a guild that only had 22 or so Mythic raiders plus a few social players/alts and it feels very inclusive. It might take a while to get “in” but it’s a lot easier when you aren’t just a random face in a large guild.
