Previous XPAC 1.6k in 2v2 before quitting due to LFG cancer.
Now I hit 1.5k in Solo Shuffle. I understand that learning the main CD’s involved in each class and spec is likely to give the biggest boost in my performance.
One problem I am facing with SoloShuffle is the fact that its 3v3, and while I find it super fun, I am struggling with some things:
-Key bindings: I simply don’t have any more bindings I can comfortably press (already using alt and ctrl modifiers). Already struggling with pressing everything smoothly as is, but needing more keybindings for each enemy Arena player so I don’t have to individually click them is something I have a hard time understanding how to do.
-Add-ons: Do I need these? I don’t want my screen cluttered with numbers and BS. I understand there are some very helpful ones like Gladius but is that sufficient?
You should 100% be using addons if you want to improve, but its more about quality over quanitity, you should get
OmniCD (party members only for the settings)
GladiusEx (set to enemy frames only)
WeakAura (download pvp weakaura pack from wago .io)
I Promise that you can get more keybindings, just keep practicing. I play on an xbox controller and have over 60 keybinds from modifier combos.
Oops I meant that I am using shift and alt modifiers. I have 1 cntrl modifier but thats about it.
I find that shift is easier for letters but alt is easier for hitting numbers (alt +1 feels easier than shift + 1).
I feel like I maxed out my potential modifiers, maybe I could squeeze 1 or 2 more in, but another 3-6 so I can have intim + silence macros for each arena enemy would throw be overboard. Maybe my keybindings are inefficient? - If thats a possibility.
I’m gonna be honest i’m close to 2400 in Shuffle as BM and I use very minimal addons, maybe a couple WA and only use shift modifiers with letter key binds.
Idk if you really need to have your UI look like a spaceship to be successful, I think the key especially as hunter is learn to not panic and get comfortable with on the spot decision making.
What I noticed works for me is being good about Scatter/Trapping the healer during Go’s and being able to learn how to use the little defensives we have in conjunction with traps to be able to kite.
Another big thing is just practice, keep logging games in and trying to figure out how you can improve every game and just try to get better the next.
Yes, In my first few games I was panicking hard (Still do when double-trained by melee) but overtime I was able to get calmer and think through which traps and which defensive are appropriate for any current situation.
One problem I have currently (bc last XPAC i was playing surv) is getting to the enemy healer to able to scatter + trap. In Previous XPAC I could harpoon, but playing as MM in this XPAC I find that I have to give up my positioning (in games where I find good positioning) to run all the way across the map and expose myself to scatter + trap.
essentially you should have a few buttons that your are comfortable hitting, and then develop a button layout that makes doing alt , ctrl, shift, alt+shift, alt+ctrl, etc comfortable
the only way to improve is to forget the number of your rating and to unlock your inner potential by focusing on progress.
by focusing on progress learning will naturally happen on its own.
you dont even need addons (although some are very important like an arena portrait addon such as sarena, and a DR tracker like diminish)
your natural awareness will improve faster without a bunch of addons cluttering your screen, which will help you improve as a player.
And one last final tip. always ask questions. ask everyone whos better than you in your server questions. any questions you might have, ask them. you’d be surprised how many people are willing to help you.
Tbh you just gotta burn a disengage to make it happen, a lot of games I win not even applying DPS pressure but just by trapping at the right times.
What I like to do especially if I have a really strong DPS on my team doing his job is to frost trap the healer, if he trinks sit by him to scatter if it have it or save intim for him.
You can also save scatter/intim to secure a frost trap or even if you don’t have a frost trap the extra micro CC from scatter/intim will help you secure a kill.
I’ve even won some matches rooting the healer behind LoS from their DPS and this can work just as well as a frost trap, especially in Shuffle where people seem to zug zug hard haha.
If youre strapped for actual keys to bind to try mouse wheel for targeting. You have up, down and click and then can add a modifier to set focus. I use up for enemy 1, down for 2 and click for 3 and shift with any of those sets my focus. As melee if thats to much you can also get by for the most part by just having focus and setting your tab targeting to closest enemy player.
