I want to tame the spirit beasts there but I have tried everything I’ve seen on forums and such and so far nothing has worked.
okay I was misguided as hell so I’ll ask a different question: how do I get to the phase with “The Regrowth” instead of “The Flamewake”? I’m assuming a quest chain but I have no available quests in the zone?

Oh boy. Hyjal as a zone was only introduced in Cataclysm.
Honest mistake. But as others indicated it’s a zone that came into play during cataclysm.

It was there. People even got in occasionally.
Pre-Cata it even had Archimonde’s skeleton resting on the tree!
Breaking into Hyjal was practically a rite of passage for walljumpers and explorers back in the day.
Was nothing to tame tho.
Try turning on ‘Trival Quests’ in the ‘Tracking’ menu near your minimap. You should be able to find some quest chains.
Also google “A Guide to the Molten Front and Respective Quests”
You’re probably trying to tame Ban’thalos , Ankha , or Magria . Wowhead says once you’ve completed enough quests in mount hyjal, you change the zone and unlock the the daily quests at the sanctuary of malorne, somewhere after this quest https://www.wowhead.com/quest=25372/aessinas-miracle, and once the zone becomes changed, the rares can now spawn.
