How to get a Garrison? Insta 110

I never did the intro to WoD/garrison, since this character was of that level and I boosted my priest.

So when I boosted my DK, on Jan 30, it did the garrison quest with the intro that leads you to setting up your Garrison; I had never done this before.

It boosted from 90, so it would have done it the same way as you (boosting from 74.)

I think I started it in Stormwind? I can't recall.

That stuff, I think.

Trivial quests to get garrison are greyed out on map and there are no NPCs that will allow me to pick up quest for garrison. This is on my 110 boost. I have done the intro on a couple of other toons but this one I boosted from 74 to 110. Ticket this issue?

If you take the ashran portal ftom stormwind or ogrimmar, it will take you to garrison starting zone i believe.. for alliance you will see velen.. talk to him if alliance.. horde not sure who

Unfortunately you can't take the portal. Because the questline was never done to unlock the portal. And taking the "secret way" from Timeless Isle doesn't help either. There's no one on the beach.

You have to go to Blasted Lands, talk to Khadgar and run the entire intro in order for Velen to show up on the beach.

I felt like an update to this would be helpful for those looking to unlock your Garrison post-BFA! Note that you do not have to run the entire intro quest, and this post will tell you how to skip it. If you wish to see the Intro Quests, then you should seek Khadgar at the Dark Portal and start from there.

**EDITED TO INCLUDE BOTH FACTIONS**

1. Go to Timeless Isle in Pandaria, in the south east near the pirate ship there is an underwater cave with a camp fire, you can use this to teleport yourself to Gorgrond.

2. Get to the closest flight path from where you land in Gorgrond (which I believe is Everbloom Overlook), and fly to where your garrison is supposed to be (Note: as an instant 110 token character, you should have all flight paths unlocked already when you get there, making it easy to travel). For Alliance players, it's Lunarfall in Shadowmoon Valley. For Horde, it's Frostwall Garrison in Frostfire Ridge.

3. From there, travel to where you would have crash landed if you had done the intro quests for Draenor. For Alliance, it will be on the beach where your shipyard eventually gets built (if you build one), just north of the Garrison itself in Shadowmoon Valley. This area is also where you do fishing shack quest to upgrade that building. On the Horde side, you will just travel slightly southwest to the shoreline and look for the shipwreck with Farseer Drek'Thar and Khadgar standing with Thrall.

4. Be sure to right click on your mini-map and check mark the box next to "Trivial Quests" and then Alliance members should find Velen on the beach next to the northern side of the shipwreck. Take his quest "Finding a Foothold" and you will then do the few short quests to build your Garrison without having to do the entire entry quest line! For Horde players: Talk to Drek'Thar and take the quest entitled "A Song of Frost and Fire" (nice Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire reference there, Blizz!).

Again, forgive the necro... but I felt like for some who have missed this content and wanted a "shortcut", this was helpful.

Just did this myself (the trick is to do class trial 100 and boost that one, you get garrison level 3 lol)

But since you and I didn't here is what you do:
- Use Org portal to Blasted Lands
- Talk to Khadgar by the Dark Portal
(No - you cannot just go through the portal, it doesn't work at all)
- Do the entire opening sequence of quests until you get your garrison; you have to constantly poke and find quest givers as you won't get quest markers and you have a LOT to do to get it done
- Then take a few hours to pimp it out (and many more annoying hidden quests to do)

Then you and I will finally reach where we could have been if we just clicked better in the first minute of creating the character to boost. It's a 6 to 8 hour mistake.

Not hidden just enable low level quests to be seen in the map options.

I was going to ding you for a necro, but this is useful information for anyone boosting as you say, post BfA.

+1 to this but faster to just bribe a mage to port you to Warspear.
Fly to the dark portal entrance, talk to Kadghar and kick start the entire ques chain.

I've done it few times.

You don’t need to do this, read the method recommended a few posts up, it works fine.

The method I explained a few posts above this is much, much shorter. If you want to see the whole intro, etc. by all means feel free - but I wanted to update for those who just want to get to the nitty gritty of having a garrison and getting it fired up right away.

I also want to thank those who refrained from dinging me due to the necro of the thread, but honestly this late in the game, sometimes I feel like these updates are helpful and once I figured out how to do this so easily I wanted to share.

ALSO! I edited the original post to include specifics for Horde players as well (as I just did this on my Horde Demon Hunter because I love the WoD Garrison!).

As mentioned, if you get a mage to port you to Warspear or Ashran instead of using the campfire in Timeless Isle, you can start at step #3 in my post above:

From Warspear (Horde): Fly to Frostwall Garrison in Frostfire Ridge.
From Ashran (Alliance): Fly to Lunarfall in Shadowmoon Valley.

3. From there, travel to where you would have crash landed if you had done the intro quests for Draenor. There is no way to teleport yourself from this cave.
It takes about an hour and a half to do the intro to Draenor questline up to the point where you take a flight to Ashran. I've done that many times.

From Warspear (Horde): Fly to Frostwall Garrison in Frostfire Ridge.
From Ashran (Alliance): Fly to Lunarfall in Shadowmoon Valley.

If they've never been to Draenor before, will they have the flight point? Not having flight could be a huge issue.

yes they do.

Seriously, read his method, it works, and you do not have to do the intro quest chain.
