So no new addons at all, ever? That’s an odd stance to take considering that Blizzard spent a lot of time and effort on an addon API for Classic.
You must not remember a lot of things from Vanilla
actually it is relevant. If no one used it, who cares?
Interesting point. That does seem to be what is being implied with that response.
That isn’t relevant.
The issue is whether the add-on does something it isn’t supposed to, e.g. automates gameplay. This add-on does not, so it is fine.
Blizzard’s criteria for what made an add-on acceptable never included how many people used it.
I’m sorry I was just trying to help you see a different side of the argument. Maybe just wait for the addon to actually be public and used to make an opinion. I see now you are stern on your stance and I’ll leave it be. It’s good to have an open mind on things before you criticize them without all the information.
that was me responding to the namecaller.
Addons in the spirit of Vanilla are great. I code for a living and love to see what addon developers can do with the API. This one is actually an impressive addon (code-wise), but I don’t think it is truly in the spirit of Vanilla is all.
I’ve never used an AH addon. Better get rid of all those since it doesn’t recreate my experience!
Cool! So just like the original Vanilla LFG addon, Call To Arms. I agree.
Not really for me, the issue is whether it should be allowed to do what it is doing (if it actually is, we have no solid information on this)
You and your criteria don’t matter.
the entire point of an MMO is to join a guild and work together, if you dont wanna do that then go play RETAIL, Blizz made it so you dont have to be social, thats why its BROKE, and why we dont wanna play it anymore lol ( ps i have no prob with the addon, tis a glorified chat channel) but this is a a social game, thats why it works and why retail doesnt.
use that then…
Exactly. I don’t see why this is such a big deal yet no one is talking about TradeSkillMaster coming to Classic. In my opinion that is much worse to the spirit of the game. It’s really powerful and an outside app is needed to keep tabs on the economy.
Likewise! yay us!
If you want to know how ignorant I am of AH addons, I’ve literally never heard of that and have no clue what it does. lol
Its a big one. We’ll put it that way
Yep, I am. ClassicLFG looks like a great implementation of Call To Arms, I’ll happily use it.
Actually what I meant was that if no one used it, there would be no impact on those that do not use it.
We can’t. Blizzard gave us a different API for Classic, so we have ClassicLFG instead, which does the same thing.
Right, but Blizzard’s criteria do matter, and this add-on is acceptable within those criteria.
It doesn’t impact people who don’t use it at all. The add-on is specifically designed to work with people who don’t use it, and even allow people who don’t want to be part of groups with people who do use it to exclude themselves.
I know people that used CTA. So it had some kind of impact, even if you didn’t notice.
I don’t know about this AH addon they’re talking about, but I can bet it impacts me in some way.
This addon seems less impactful than that since it’s broadcasting what it’s doing for those without the addon.
