lol, it was much more specific than this recent dev response which was even more generalized and answering a question they did not hear.
For starters, how do you argue that reading chat counts as gameplay?
I would hope that an addon would automate things. I mean it’s code and if you have to manually execute it one statement at a time then there’s not much point in it, right?
For reference, they specifically note things like Healbot and Decursive as the kind of automation that they don’t want to come back.

Wrong. Today they said addons are fine as long as they dont play the game for you.
We know from years of precedent that they dont consider chat addons as “playing the game for you”. That kind of talk is reserved for stuff like old decursive that does all if your combat stuff for you.

To me it sounds like something that sorts a certain type of message from all the “chaff” in chat. Kind of like your email sorting out all the spam and leaving you with just the important messages to read. Or at least sorting a certain type of email (depending on subject line) into a separate folder. Then YOU decide which ones to respond to, your email doesn’t respond for you. With all the crap that goes on in chat, I’m still not sure why this is such a bad thing?

It isnt, once you sift through all the people who knee jerk freak out cause the addon has the letters LFG in it then you’ll realize theres not much resistance.

That’s not all it does though. According to Suu, it works across layers. Which I’m pretty sure the standard chat window does not.
It will also still spam LFG automatically.
The only difference between this one and the retail version that I can tell is no auto group.

yep, its *ss backwards.
So its giving people the opportunity to form friendships with people theyd have never had the chance to because they were on a different layer. Awesome advertisement man, this addon is getting better and better

Of course it does. Chat messages are sent to chat channels across layers, because those chat channels are global.
