How to deal with eager dps?

Hey all, I seem to face trouble when queuing up in dungeons, this happens typically once a day but it’s getting tiresome to repeatedly asking one particular player “hey, can you please not pull. Thats my job”

I love tanking, I do it on multiple classes and have been doing it a long time, I like to believe I’m very quick about my pulling, while making sure the healer is physically and mana-wise keeping up. I make sure to watch everyone’s positioning and not bite off more than I can chew so to speak.

two dungeons in a row, i’ve had two players go out of there way to pull packs, i’ve asked them to stop twice in a row, but instead of stopping they get rather hostile.

“Can’t handle the heat huh? maybe uninstall” is one of my favorite gems thus far. I’m not going to stop tanking, but how do you deal with these oh so charm filled individuals that happen to muscle their ways into your keys or random queues.

There was a mantra long ago…

You pull it, you tank it.

Stop rescuing the nitwits. Getting stomped into the ground a few times should send them a message.

Hope you get a healer that will cease heals, you stop peeling them.

That’ll learn em.

I had the issue the other night of pulling as a tank and being kicked because the DPS died. You cannot win, it is either too fast or too slow.

No it won’t. People like to blame others for their mistakes and the kick function will just remove you from the group for not helping them.

Then why not kick them first? The party might side with you.

Kick them after a warning.

Strangely enough they don’t get removed from the groups, at least in these two instances I’ve provided with the OP. It was right before the last boss both times so I imagined the other players in the party thought “to hell with it lets just finish”

as it was just myself and the dps nagging each other the entire time, I’d wanna finish and gtfo too lol

Vote to kick. If it fails, leave after the first boss.

I am lucky to have my wife healing when I tank, accidental pulls i will peel…intentional pulls for the most part I will aggro dump and my wife will stop healing. My wife will rez you the first time as a warning after that enjoy your run back.

Healer and tank make two votes, dps are easy to replace. Just one dps needs to agree to get rid of them.

I play only dps, I vote kicked off a hunter who was pulling everything in sight. Admittedly there was no warning given, but he did wipe us.

It’s not only the tank or healer that gets annoyed with it.

Have you tried throwing out a love fool…

They pull 'em, they tank 'em. If they die, then so be it.

When I tanked and my wife healed, we’d let them die then kicked their dead bodies.

Just dont taunt off them and let them die

After 14 years dps has never learned and will never learn not to pull. Some have ingrain sense of hey I do what I want. I tend to say fine and roll with it. If heals cannot keep up. I say have fun and leave. It only way.

Personal experience, but I find that plenty of tanks that say “stop pulling it’s my job” are pulling the wrong stuff and refuuuuuuuse to listen when dps tell them they could pull different things to make the run go so much faster. Like this tank pulling everything back in shadopan monastery instead of just listening to me and jumping off the bridge and running around. Or even way back in steamvault, pulling entire swaithes of room for no reason.

Or they will pull one mob at a time. Literally, a single mob. One group even insisted on using CC back in mid legion days. Turns runs that should’ve lasted 15 minutes into hour long slogs of “I’m the tank I pull, now I’m going to wait between every pull for cds”.

Should clarify, I heal and dps these groups I’ve referenced.

There are a few options:

  1. Let them die
  2. Kick them
  3. Put them on ignore so you’re never grouped with them again
  4. Leave group if they keep pulling, preferably mid-boss fight or the instant they’ve aggro’d a ton of mobs, to ensure their demise
  5. Queue with at least 2 friends so you can kick anyone who tries that and doesn’t listen when you tell them to stop.

Everyone can get annoyed with everything and in a 5 man group after 3 minutes of play anyone can kick anyone for any reason.

  • DPS Pulling
  • DPS too low
  • Healer not healing enough

There are literally any reason someone can put in, but be warned, you kick your healer or tank and you could be waiting a while.

Wait till you start pugging M+ with bolstering with eager to pull DPS. Like they dont even know what Bolstering does. So I end up with tanking mobs with 6+ stacks of it. Worst part I cant kick them anymore at that point.
