Yes, vanilla WoW (and TBC btw) are designed such that switching specs is supposed to be annoying :expressionless: thatā€™s the gameā€™s way of encouraging you to pick 1 spec and stick with it.

It only limits being able to flip flop on the fly.

The core of Dual Spec remains and that is not being stuck with one spec.

There seem to be three types of people.

a) Purist - No dual spec. Make your choose and live with it. Suck it up butter cup.

b) Moderate - Dont want to be locked into a single spec but does not want flip flip perma two specs or upset the class balance too much. Wants limits. eg. Healers can level up and spec heals to do dungeons

c) Chaotic - wants to run two specs and be able to flip flop as needed. Wants no limits and just hit a hotkey to swap. Grind mobsā€¦ POOFā€¦ Gank newbs!..POOF Grind mobs!

In 2004 they did not have the systems they have today. It wasnā€™t designed that way, it was the only thing they could do.

Okay so great, how about this:

Dual spec from Itā€™s Wrath iteration, 1,000G cost + level 40. Can change specs wherever and whenever.

For people like you, Argentia, which are very much the minority; you can simply not purchase dual spec and be a pure little spec as if it were 2007.

The purpose of dual spec is to be able to swap specs as needed with no downtime so that people can, you knowā€¦continue playing the game

Having to travel back to a major city to change specs is no different from having to travel back to a major city to buy a respec. If Iā€™m out questing as dps and someone starts grouping for a dungeon, itā€™s far easier not just for me, but for everyone in the group, to be able to swap on the spot to my tank spec and go straight to the dungeon, rather than having to take a flight path all the way back to my city, respec, rearrange my hotbars, and then fly all the way back to meet up with the warlock for summons because everyone else is just afk waiting for a summon

People who will use dual spec were already respeccing as needed. People who will demand meta specs for their groups were always demanding meta specs for their group. Dual spec changes literally nothing besides being able to adapt to whatever youā€™re about to do more quickly so you can spend less time speedrunning peggle for the 20th time on a long flight path, and more time actually playing the game

Your profile is hidden, I highly doubt you do anything in the game that requires thought, especially something like WPvP AND how dual spec would be relevant to this situation.

Either way makes no difference. If in cities only, a player will just be required to set their hearth in a major city and have a warlock summon them back into raid. Having dual spec at all is already a joke so may as well go all out with it.

I would disagree with you on what the purpose should be.

That is because im a moderate and you are a chaotic. (reference from my last post)

This is to allow us to respec without the cost. (I seen someone quoting Holly on that)

It is so that respecting is more accessible. Not so very restrictive. I do not believe the intent is for or should be for what you think it should be a flip flop on the fly which is more class (im)balancing.

If the last decade has taught the world anything should it not me lets keep the pendulum from swinging too far to either extreme? Balance is good.
