the demons at the end would nuke yah for 50% or more of your hp, if you didn’t stand close to them. the corpses would spawn maggots. the robot sentries would zap ya, etc etc. and the last boss would make infinite copies of himself lol
What??? Our guild progressed EASILY into Tier 6 content with two bear tanks, and no warrior, because we had bad luck finding a competent warrior tank. We finally picked up one in Tier 6 only because we felt the guild was best served by having a variety of tank classes.
Honestly, we had zero problem with bears tanking. Our 3rd tank was a paladin. He was a bit more of an issue because of threat issues, but became indispensible late in the expansion when everyone was geared up enough to AOE everything down.
Most modern players will throw a fit if you tell them that. I even point out that M+ need external mechanics for the enemies to be hard and they still say it is hard.
Same people dont know you can spell steal enemy buffs or reposition your self to take less damage in older content. They then complain TW is “over tuned”. /rolledeyes
This is why I keep dreaming of a universal scaling option for live while waiting for the classic server to come out. I want to play all the old content at a hard level. Heroics have mechanics that are NOT in TW.
There were a couple of trash mobs in Arcatraz that would disorient the tank, immediately drop threat and start thrashing through the healer and dps. A huge pain. They nerfed those mobs sometime late in BC, maybe the 2.3 patch?
I actually thought the M+ is a great idea on paper, but falls flat on its face as a product because it’s a time based run instead of a completion based run.
IMO they should have built it so freaking hard that a reasonable time to clear the event while pulling / CC / clearing is 1.5 hrs…
Not even kidding on that, it would have been truly epic…
Unfortunately it’s all speed run garbage and that’s only fun for a while until you do the thing for the 86th time and realize the only thing that holds you back is your gear because time to clear is tied to your group comp and gear 100% if you’re IQ is even slightly above a chimpanzee.
That is kind of the overall point in a way. Tigole started out with the “Get geared and learn to play” mindset. Near the end of BC, Blizzard clearly took a new direction.
Shattered Halls and Escape from Durnholde were nerfed, what like 3 or 4 times to make them doable by average players?
The dang dogs in Heroic Shattered Halls did a bite that ticked for like 4k initially. Ouch lol
The original guards, I forget what they are called, in Durnholde hit like trains and were immune to all forms of CC and you got 4 at a time…
Shadow labs when it was new content was actually super fun. Very Vanilla like in the dungeon difficulty… IMO one of the better designed TBC dungeon heroics.
The speed run mechanic has other issues, that being that only those specs with the best speed clear potential are wanted. If you specialize in single target, you are not really wanted.
It is one of the sour points that made me less interested in Legion and the lack of corrective changes in BfA to specs or mechanics moved me away even more.
Other than Honor 2.0 and Death of 40m Raids, BC improved so much on the base game. Classes were way more viable, talent trees truly allowed you to be a hybrid.
TBC was a vast improvement over the original, not saying I don’t like classic but I think TBC is when the game really started to take off.
Things I actually thought was really well done in TBC…
Heroic dungeons were “Vanilla” in the difficulty and IMO a lot of fun and there were tons of them… A++++
The first 2 raid tiers were actually excellent… Kara was also A++++ on design.
The issues TBC had were in the changes to the stat systems, the incarnation of the daily quests… /vomit, and the addition of resilience PVP… Also the Sunwell / Mt HATE was seriously a letdown in regard to quality of awesomeness.
MT Hyjal was fun at least in my experience granted it was a bit tedious after you completed the zone, however I never got bored of Sunwell.
I agree the stat system and daily quests sucked but some people did like that, resilience was rewarding to me as it was gear you needed to obtain through pvp to pvp.
It is about 70, 80% of the reason I want a TBC Classic server. Other reasons are either silly (retrying old silly class/item combos), or try and finish a bear item combo to see if I can be even harder to kill.
