I assume by aesthetics you just mean what is pleasing to people? Anyway, I wouldn’t leave out sound effects.
A lot. To me it’s a real world, not just avatars and stats.
Very. If I play horde, it is Vulpera or Blood Elf. The rest are not appealing.
I like to make my characters look good. I want things to be aesthetically please, but also for myself need to make in other ways.
idk I still like playing Final Fantasy 1 a lot and it obviously doesn’t have very good graphics. And RPGs from the early 2000s etc. But I wouldn’t want to just play a pure text based RPG either probably. So kinda important? It feels like sometimes in WoW the aesthetics are the only thing keeping the game afloat as the gameplay and mechanic decisions are so awful. But hopefully that won’t be the case.
If you can see it, it matters.
This is a fun topic. In my guild we have what I’d call manly men; they talk about guns and sportsball. I really doubt if their socks match. But they’ll gather around a player and discuss tmog and the fine shades of a color for hours. I love it, it makes me smile.
Just dipping back into this thread to offer full apology to whomever I offended. Please know, it was not my intention to offend. That is all, nothing to see here. Move along.
Spell effects - yes
The rest I don’t care at all about. In my opinion, mounts and transmog specifically there are too many it doesn’t even matter I usually forget the ones I collect a day or two after I collect them,
WoW is socially acceptable dress up for men, so hell yeah I’m gonna discuss the nuance of teal vs turquoise with my homies
I generally feel the need for my Characters to look like how their Race would look as their Class. Though with Rogues, they just have to look like they belong.
Could not have made a pithier statement if I tried.
it’s literally the whole game for me. It’s why I love the Warcraft IP over standard D&D stuff
Aesthetics is the top of the list of elements that matter to me. How my character looks matters to me especially. Specifically character avatar customization first and foremost, with transmog being a close second, and player housing coming in third in games that have (which soon includes WoW). Spell/skill effects are a more distant 4th place, but it does matter and I, like many players, feel glyphs have been woefully underused. Being able to customize my spells and abilities more than we currently can would be a massive upgrade to my experience in WoW.
If I don’t like the way my character looks, I don’t enjoy playing it and thus don’t enjoy playing the game.
I’d be thrilled if Blizzard let me change the color of my spells and skills no matter my class or spec. I don’t care if it makes sense or not that my arcane blast is red or green or blue or void-themed. The freedom to look as I want to is a huge draw for me. It’s one of the reasons I still play City of Heroes where I can customize my character and their powers to my heart’s content.
Ahem. We need to talk about the bees, santa, and ”manly” men who talk about fashion. And stuff with long barrels exploding. And muscular guys… doing stuff.
@OP : Elves are top races except those ugly suramar ones, Xmog is top activity, mounts top shop sales… And Horde was not much before Barbie joined them. They matter, a LOT.
