Pretty much this.
Only minor changes will be done for exceptions until live hits.
Once we’ve seen what people are doing in heroic and the crazy builds they come up with, that’s when Blizz will come down hard on anything out of whack.

Did you even bother to really read the OP before posting? I don’t care about the state of Brewmaster or Mistweaver.
Windwalker, maybe, but wasn’t planning on playing that one as my first melee dps choice.
Yeah, that’s what I was talking about earlier. They’re under some insane time constraints, and needing to balance classes against each other, covenants against each other within the confines of class and outside of the confines of each class and legendaries and soulbinds and conduits, it’s really spooky. It seems very likely we’re going to be seeing tuning passes fairly early in the expansion, which is a concern for me, because I’m likely to just pick whichever ability is strongest and I’ll probably chase that unless it just gets tedious to swap every other week.
Two early? There are six weeks left before release. That is six builds to tune things in…
Just so there’s no further confusion:
I’m not looking at playing Monk for Shadowlands.
I am looking to play DPS, and was originally planning on either Enhancement or Unholy (while being open to other choices), but the information coming out of the beta makes them looking abyssmal.
Probably not enough, but good guilds will still clear everything quickly while being horribly under geared while the masses struggle on boss 4 for a month scapegoating their class.
Rule of thumb, Derez does this regularly in the Warrior/Druid forums. The reason why he’s on an lvl 11 account is because he is EU.
And because EU forums are regularly ignored, this is where he prowls waiting for threads on “class discussions”
But, they should probably have some parity by the time pre-patch hits, as we’ll be seeing our major class changes at that point. This is, obviously, strictly between base classes. But, I dunno…it doesn’t seem like they have much time. It’s very likely the first month or two are gonna feel similar to BfA, in that we’ll be seeing a lot of tuning passes.
Probably one a week until launch, and then a couple after.
You said Peak of Serenity. I responded to that.
Well, hopefully. Unless they decide to forgo that, again. [quote=“Sorelai-wyrmrest-accord, post:44, topic:640083”]

Yes. And that’s really not that much.
Should I be offended or not. Honest question.
I still don’t see the problem with playing a dps spec, even if they’re on the bottom half of the charts.
Would it matter? You get called worse things when you enter discussions.
So you have two weeks then.
Though, yesterday they split Pre-patch and Expansion development. Pre-patch is 9.0.1. Expansion is now working off the 9.0.2 branch. This is so they could building out systems and balancing and not delay pre-patch.
I’m sorry, I’m not entirely sure I understand what you’re saying. Not sure if you’re implying they’re running out of time or have plenty of time. Do you mind clarifying for me?
I am not sure what world you live in where two weeks is “plenty of time” on a two-year development. Six weeks? Yeah. That gives some breathing room.
Though, personally, I don’t actually care about balance and I doubt it will be in place until the raids start in November.
Equivalent of 35k, comparatively to now.
9.1 is generous. More like 10.0.1 beta where some YouTuber claims it’s back, everyone gets excited before realizing that it’s still relegated to the isle of misfit specs along with Subtlety Rogue, Demo Lock, Survival Hunter, and Arcane Mage.
I’ll be surprised if Enhancement is ever truly competitive again in the remaining life of WoW.
Don’t believe me? Watch what they do to Sub rogue in the coming weeks.
Isn’t Arcane one of the top specs in the beta though?
It’s a single-target spec in a raid without enough single target to justify the spec investment they force you to make with legendaries and soulbinds and covenants.
It’s exactly the same situation it’s in now in BFA, but with much more locking you into the spec than BFA ever had. Some people will play it because they love the aesthetic, but it’s not going to sit at the top of the pile when the dust settles.
Sub rogue is in a similar boat, but is actually good (and fun). We’ll see what it looks like when the INEVITABLE Bone Spike tuning (read: overnerf) comes. They’re going to echoing void that covenant into dust.
Sub’s literally not working properly. So yes, that’s going to be fixed.
All of these specs have been extremely strong in the last few years. BFA memes should stay that, memes.
Sub rogue was good for one fight. One.
Demo was never good compared to Aff/Destruction since Demon Hunters existed half a decade ago. Affliction dominated Legion. Affliction dominated Uldir. Destruction dominated every other raid tier.
Survival Hunter wasn’t as good as Marks/BM at any point in time, although it was close.
Arcane mage has never been as good as Fire/Frost since the end of WoD and (You guessed it) an unintended mechanic. Before that, it was what - ICC?
You’re confusing playable with competitive. All specs are playable. You press buttons, they do damage. They just aren’t the optimal means of delivering that damage.
