There are a LOT of those. That type of GM don’t want to really do the work and look into reports, and do the bare minimum if at all and are overzealous and power mad.
Blizz would struggle with where to draw the line. Being able to ignore someone after they say something inappropriate is the easiest solution. Ignore them and move one. Once people don’t get comments for being intentionally inappropriate, they will probably get bored and do something else.
Do not value someone’s opinion on a video game…who are they that you care what they have to say? People yield too much power to others.
Mass bannings aren’t sustainable. I’m not saying Blizzard can’t do a better job – I specifically said it’s their responsibility, even though you chose not to quote that part.
But options exist, and they’re at players’ discretion. The “offended” player doesn’t have to leave, they can put the other on ignore and stay in the channel/community. Grow a thicker skin. Fight back (without being toxic). I refuse to believe that offensive behaviors are so rampant and monumental in this game that each one deserves a suspension or permanent ban as the only solution.
A player removing themselves from an abusive situation is not a punishment – and that kind of thinking is what I find ridiculous.

Some people call getting refused from groups with 100 other applicants toxicity?
Obviously slurs are not forgivable, but that is what the report and ignore features are for.
Ignore, report, and move on.
If people feel the person is toxic and reports him then he will be silenced. If it continues the person could be silenced for a long long time.

Too bad that can and IS abused…
His point was that if the person is actually toxic, they will get report frequently enough that a GM will take notice of them. No one is forcing you to leave the community, just avoid people who you dislike and go on with your gaming. There are far less toxic people out there than most people imagine.
The current silence and escalation policies are fine in my opinion. However, I doubt I would leave if they increased moderation. I don’t participate in chat often enough to care much.
No. I wouldn’t quit. However, I guess, I’m one of the few lucky people that doesn’t run into much toxicity in the game.
That’s the big problem with these measures. You can put 5 people in the room and ask them to define toxicity and they’ll have 10 definitions ready. If people want to be so overly strict they will inevitably have a broad definition which will ban everything under the sun, including half the thread (most of whom are in favor of this) or even OP himself since he’s instigating an argument. That’s the problem with these kind of things, it’s easy to spin and go crazy on it.
But Blizz will never go this far. They’re not about to ban half their subs because they said a curse word or had one negative instance. Life is too complicated anyways, for people being toxic themselves or for blizz losing half their revenue on these badly thought out ideas.
Bring on the ban purge tbh obviously nothing else has worked

I once got a suspension I eventually overturned(1 day after it was over ofc…) because I was responding to a post about trash talking and how in leagues of legend people tell you the worst of the worst for having a bad game or being counter picked. I included one thing I won’t repeat now but its pretty much that thing young stupid raging morons tell you when they are losing and don’t have any care for anyone’s life but their own if that gives a hint.
I even censored part of the message with *** so that says a lot.
