Not me. I dont have LBS.
Maw + Torghast + disconnected zones and being forced to use flight paths= zzZZZZZZZZz
Since I started playing again I will do a quest here or there in the maw or torghast and every time I am so happy that I didn’t participate in that ugly slog. Giving Korthia an access portal in oribus helps.
Now sounds like a perfect time to hit up Wrath classic, an expansion when old Blizzard used to care and focus on world content progression as an alternative to dungeons, raids, and PvP.
Back in the golden era with the most subs.
Quit during the second tier of SL due to too many systems making it hard to change characters easily.
Came back in season 4 have been enjoying it. Prepatch as well has been awesome, specially the removal of PL from raiding, makes raiding feel like wow raiding again.
I think people forget how bad the maw + ve’nari was at launch because of how long ago it was. There was literally nothing there except some daily mobs and an incredibly depressing color palatte.
You have to wonder how much dev time that went into the zone, and how much better SL would’ve been in general if it just didn’t exist.
Me. There wasn’t anything to do but play the AH really.
It was either hardcore raid/M+, Torghast, Maw daily bs or something for my crap convenant I didn’t care to do.
It was everything really. It was boring to return to these places too and Oribos is so boring.
The maw and torghast. The 2 biggest mistakes blizz made in SL. Sure they’re fine now. But from 9.0 to 9.2, both those zones were implemented badly. Really badly.
Torghast originally had 1 extra floor per layer which made it just that much too long to complete per layer. The individual wings were on a weekly rotation lockout. Legos were gated behind certain wings. No collectibles such as mogs or toys or pets etc. Forced to do it for legos. Many classes had bad anima powers and due to this, it was not uncommon for you to simply get completely blocked by the last boss regardless of your skill.
The maw…oof. What shemozle. Who here remembers the group sharding limitation Blizz put in place? What a cluster that was. The jailers eye… that was a seriously bad idea. There wasn’t that many activities to actually do either. No assaults, no boss events, only 2 rares even dropped a collectible and both were located in the beastwarrens where most couldn’t go (one of which was on a freaking 3? weekly rotation). The biggest mistake of all? No mounts! SMH.
I don’t think anyone quit over Torghast. Especially at the start of the expansion.
In the beginning there wasn’t a lot of dislike for Torghast. The current dislike was something you saw develop over time as it started to feel repetitive. Regardless of that feeling, for players it was still necessary to do it twice a week. This is something no one liked.
I always say how much I like this current iteration of torghast. Should’ve just been implemented this way instead of forcing it’s progression for legendaries. and the random no use time gate on soul ash sure made things even more fun for players.
I feel like if the best thing you can say about a WoW zone is “you didn’t have to do it”, it is objectively a terrible zone. And I wonder why development time was even invested into a zone that was really bad, but also no one had to do it.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’d rather the end game zone at the start of an expansion be good and fun, but that’s just me.
I leveled one character through SL, hit Torghast and thought nope… no more. I have been enjoying the older content since then.
Shadowlands is a lesson in how optimizing for time played at the cost of immersion and fun will always blow up in your face
I minded it less than I do now, Nathria was decent and the M+ rotation was still fresh.
I was unsubbed until september. Didn’t like how they rewrote the entire lore book as the nonsensical plot of some random nobody.
I’m tempted to unsub permanently since we didn’t get to butcher Sylvanas into 35 anima for her crimes and I’m fully expecting Dragonflight to be a complete disaster, both system wise and narrative.
And the biggest reason of all that I want to unsub again? I Still can’t play an Orc Paladin.
I would sooner delete my entire account than play classic. Those couple hours sound a death knight were the most painful wow time I’ve had in over a decade.
I quit because I didn’t like Bastion. Then I quit again because of Torghast. I just came back and started doing Zereth Mortis since they didn’t add anything to the prepatch yet. I’d rather do something else. This expansion sucked.
i didnt care tbh with you i just sucked it up and did it
It’s a shame this happened because so many people came back for shadowlands.

Shadowlands isn’t optimized for time played, though, that was Legion & BfA.
Shadowlands is extremely minimal in grinds, by comparison. It’s the least-grindy expansion since Warlords of Draenor, by far. Unless you’re into collecting things like mounts/pets/toys/titles/transmog/etc (as I am), since Shadowlands has as many mounts to collect as BfA & Legion put together…
