I agree…but the truth is this forum was flooded with people who complained about how bored they were from running out of stuff to do when it was just gear.
That’s not all that people want account-wide and you know it. People want currency shared across accounts, want rep to be account-wide. Don’t act like its just essences.
No you don’t, unless you have some lucky Corruption(which is fine), but you would be doing 60k-70k if you had rank 3 essences.
We don’t want to ding and go to m15, we want to ding, equip our rank 3 essences, and start grinding world quests for gear, dungeons, m0-5, normal raid and slowly climb the gear ladder, also slowly level-up our cloaks with the upcoming catch-up. This will take a few weeks, but it will be much more engaging than adding 2 months of gathering essences.

You’re implying people have high raid participation to begin with, which I’m certain isn’t really the case. If you have numbers that suggest otherwise, be my guest to prove me wrong. I am just guessing, as I don’t have time for raiding currently and mostly play around in M+ so I’m not as exposed to the raiding scene as I used to be.
You don’t need perfection to achieve mediocrity, which, unless you’re parsing orange every fight and pull, everywhere, you also don’t truly need your BiS essence, or the third rank of it.
Just because you say things like ‘false’ or ‘not factual’ doesn’t make them less of a bad opinion.
You’re definitively opinionated that you have to have the best without putting the time to get the best. Essences are practically a piece of gear attached to a piece of gear. Quit looking at them as if they’re not.

I’m sorry, how many topics have been about essences being a total chore and turnoff for playing alts? How much of what’s in the OP is truly gear related? All I really see is the cloak, and that is current content which also has a lot of catch-up mechanics.
So you no longer get Crucible for going to Naj? You don’t get the meme beam for timing a M+4? Doing the cloak quest won’t give out BoD? Does WV still come from doing islands/mission table? Where are the flaws?
This is another of those instances when one simple truth is neglected:
“If your alts were to be taken the same length as your main, they would not be alts, but multiple mains”.
And I have no mains, only different progression level alts.
Just play Dh alt. Dont need bote nice and easy already more progressed than everyone here posting. Good fix

No, not really at all. There more like golden traits in legion or legendaries. There effects make or break your character.
Makes and breaks your gameplay.
time a +4 with 1 essence.
Attempt to even get in a group after unlocking your first essence.
Do the quest on a alt with 1 essence. Even attempting it is borderline suicidal.
To even equip two essences you need to grind out ap again. Great expirence. soul crushing the 3rd time.
Flaws
Dailies not stacking.
Massive chore list inflated by falling behind on the essence train.
Sense of being unable to catch up.
still having to do all the 8.3 stuff ontop of the 8.2.
Essences are power progression just like gear. It takes time to get your BiS. Thankfully you’re handed 5-6 of them that can really up your dps.
Use Iris as main. Worldvein, crucible, and BoD in the secondary slots. They don’t take long to level, and really pack a punch in dungeons.
Acquire the rep grinds while you run dungeons/raids and gear up. You can do both at the same time! 
I understand there are a few that are much easier to get, even rank 1-2. But not all essences are equally powerful for each spec. Some rank 1 of the best essence will beat rank 3 of other easy essence for your spec.
Just play dh alt and your problems are solved.
You can get your BiS mythic + gear in a week. cant be said for essences. they cant be compared.
worldvien takes 3 weeks and only at rank 3 is it worth it…
how much time do you think people have to play this game? Do mecha dailies,do naj dailies, then ontop do the uldum/vale dailies? jesus.

I’d recommend you don’t expect to play so many alts at max level if you don’t have time. Focus on one or two toons and you’ll be happier.
Something tells me it’s going to get a lot worse in shadowlands.
