How long will Classic last?

Sulfuras is very populated but I’m concerned about the future of Classic.

Then quit playing. Bye felicia.

Do you think yours is the only realm that is very populated?

If that’s what you think, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Only until tomorrow :man_shrugging::man_shrugging::man_shrugging:

every game has a life span, dont be worried about it for classic just play

private servers only had a few thousand people which is nothing for a game in 2019

there will always be people playing vanilla. just like there are still people playing diablo 2. some games are just that good.

I was ecstatic about classic. I started WoW in patch 1.06 many moons ago and it was the first online multiplayer RPG I’ve ever played. Current WoW is boring. I relived nostalgia WoW (classic) for two months, realized it too was very boring if you never played the right class, in the right spec, with the very same cookie cutter build everyone else had with that right class with the right spec. It’s just an illusion of choice from the boring pruned class skills as current WoW. Pretty much skipped Panda and played near beginning of launch of next expansions for the past few years, not making the same mistake with Shadowlands.

Without something like Classic+, about a year.

Im not pining for Classic+ or TBC relaunch, just stating my view.

Considering we are playing a 15 year old game, if these doom sayers were right, we wouldent be playing classic right now

And as for, any ifs and why, the most stupid and costly move blizz could do, is going down the same path all over again, that ensure they loose all those classic players they got back, and they go back to private servers again…

Classic will begin to taper off unrecoverably about 8 months to a year after naxx is released, but will never truly die.

The population will steadily decrease from now onward, with small surges at each phase release, but the overall trend will be downward.

its not being a doomsayer to say a video game will have a life span lmao

i played on northdale, there were a few thousand people still going at the end. thats not much for a game in 2019. many of them were bots or people trolling chat that never left the barrens too

It’ll be hurting once people are AQ and Naxx level geared. The first to fall will be the casuals and fresh 60s who dont have raid gear. After getting destroyed 24/7 in any PvP encounter they start to lose interest and stop logging in. Then even the raiders will start quitting when their guild starts wiping out on cthun or they juat dont make it into one of the 2 or 3 naxx guilds on the server

mhmmm and why are there so many playing a 15 year old video game, even willing to pay a subscription, where much much more modern games are free… there is something here that dosent add up ?

It was a large mistake, imo, to structure the phases as they did, to resemble vanilla. They should have improved the phases, not mirrored them.

It is anecdotal, but I think most would agree that the majority of servers saw a large dropoff beginning in phase 2 that is continuing now.

Edit: agree with Mattness above. The classic design parameters and simple math of character design really can’t support the sheer power of the raid gear from aq40 and naxx.

Simply put, that gear is much too powerful for level 60s to have, and it does cause the game to fall apart a bit.

I would be comfortable guaranteeing at least a year if not 2-3 solid years of playing, from there it’s up in the air, only time will tell.

because blizzard just released it

it will die down a lot in a year or two like every other game that doesnt get new content.
