How long have you played in relation to your age?

A little under half my life.

i was 35 when i started on WoW in 2008. however, i started PC gaming and BASIC coding in 1984 with Commodore 64, i would go thru around 4 of those before the last one died in 1998 and i switched over to a Windows PC

Honestly I’m with you there. I like online relationships much more then real ones. Real relationships feel so awkward, and often times superficial. People on the internet to me feel like they reveal their true selves more. Sure they may be insecure and lie about their appearances, but that is because the real world is such a superficial one. So it’s became a learned behavior for some folks. On the internet when you like someone, you just like who they are.

Oh man. I started playing during Cata… I was either 12 or 13 at that time? I’m 22 now. Almost half my life.

oof.

42% of my life.

That’s wild man, how did you get into the game at 6? I remember seeing one of the first WoW commericals, maybe the Gnome Mage with Vurne Troyer & just had to look up the game & found the TBC box art, I was enraptured & just knew I had to play the game. I convinced my grandpa to get it for me, not knowing that it was expansion or what a subscription was. I spent almost a year & a half just wandering around in starting zones, having no clue what a raid was or how to talk to the people in trade or general, how to get a mount, it wasn’t until the ICC patch that I met a friend who showed me the ropes of an MMO, how to do dungeons, how to actually level up & go to other zones, get my first mount etc. It wasn’t untill near the end of Wrath I made this paladin & started figuring it out. It wasn’t until Cata that I really knew what I was doing.

i didn’t, i made a hunter and my brother played most of the time on my character, and whenever i played i would just run around to random spots doing whatever.
eventually i got “stuck” without a hearthstone and just gave up

Clever way to get the age part of age/sex/whateverthetherthing was. :slight_smile

43 myself now and I started in 2015. I’d finished my degree a few years earlier, my marriage had been cold several years, and my kid had recently become old enough to be engrossed ni his own video games. So I found myself with huge amounts of alone time and thought a big mmorpg might help fill it out. (My computer was still perpendicular to my kid’s computer out in the living room, so we’d shoot the breeze while we did our own thing.)

Fastforward 5 years, I’m the snigle parent of a kid who cooks most of his own food and I’m working from home as an IT person. We haven’t seen his mother in a few years now, and we don’t get out much, but I did accidentally find his longlost grown halfsister from my ex’s first marriage and visited her last year. (I was looking at mylife to see if a remote coworker of mine was single, and saw this woman with my ex’s maiden name had viewed my own profile.) My kid’s halfsister has 4 kids, so I became a step-father/grandfather and he a brother/uncle by virtue of me snooping people on the internet.

The dating sites didn’t pan out after a few years, and I adjusted to being alone and lazy in a super mancave master of my own schedule, so now I just play warcraft and binge old tv series.

My ascendance at work has been as dramatic as my social life’s decline though, so doing okay otherwise.

Goodluck to you on your a/s/otherthing quest OP.

FOR THE ALLIANCE!!!

Toast to that, man. People on the internet really are without inhibitions. It makes it so much easier to just know who you’re talking to, even if it does lead to heated arguments sometimes because we’re so open about what we think.

Blockquote Oh man. I started playing during Cata… I was either 12 or 13 at that time? I’m 22 now. Almost half my life.

oof.

Almost as long as me man, let me guess, late 98 or 99? I’m in the same boat at 97. We’re the EARLY* zoomers bro. WoW zoomers at that.
Did you pick up the game quick, or did it take you a minute to figure it out too? Cause I came in during ZA & didn’t know what I was doing until ICC, and didn’t start playing seriously until Cata when I was all caught up on expansions.

Started at age 12. I’m 27 now. But I was playing Warcraft 3 at age 11.

That’s how my first couple of characters went, I didn’t realize what character customization was because I never played a game that let you choose like that, so I just accepted whatever the game gave me & randomized names until I got one I liked. I had an orc warrior as my first, ran around the Valley of Trials not knowing what a quest was, found my way out & died swimming to Sen’Jin Isle. Logged out, deleted it, made a tauren warrior. Rinse & Repeat until I made a Tauren Hunter that I still have, figured out the game, got TBC & made this paladin. Rest is history.

I am 18 and I’ve played WoW for 10 years. WoW has been a part of me for about 55% of my life.

So you started in vanilla at 12, but playing WC3 in like 2002/2003? That’s crazy you’re only 3/4 years older than me but were able to get in so early. I wish I played OG WoW, but I didn’t even really get to experience TBC I had no idea what I was doing.

Started in December and in my late 30s so hardly any time really I think im at 10 days /played in retail and 13 days in classic.

As I joined at the end of the expansion there is not much relevant content and catchup mechanics are way too fast.

Basically I can M+ 15 once a week hoping for the right upgrade and mythic raid once a week when I find a guild group needing a dps (most guild groups are set on tanks). Other than that I level alts for shadowlands (as no point echo farming on alts this close to new expansion).

I could do higher M+ but honestly I dont even know how half the dungeons gearing up to +10s dont actually require any knowledge of your class or the dungeons to succeed.

Examples would be didnt know the shield generators in mechagon can be destroyed till 2 weeks ago and didnt know they gave me damage reduction till yesterday and I have still timed a 15 as a tank in there.

February 98. We are the late zoomers. It did take me a hot minute to figure out the game; I had no idea what I was really doing for those first six months or so. I really just did my own thing until MoP when I decided to start raiding after leveling up a Priest and Druid.

So glad I did because raiding in MoP was amazing. All the raids that expansion were spectacular. I loved HoF and ToT the most I think, but ToES just for that name alone as good too.

When I started I remember I was like 15 or 16 IDK, sometime way back then in my mid teens I don’t even remember at this point. I do remember vaguely leveling through something called “the war effort” though I was too knew to know it had anything to do with AQ or even what AQ even was.

I remember skipping school to play WoW, and having my grades suffer for it as a result. I am now 32 and still playing strong, when I have time, I literally can’t skip out on responsibilities anymore. I’ve got a landlord to satiate, an elderly father to check on, and a possible little one on the way.

I hope WoW lasts long enough for the newest generation to have parents who have played their whole life and pass it on to them, we were a unique generation: being the first kids to grow up with video games and prove our own parents wrong.

Best of all, we’ll know that you can’t actually pause an online game, and will give ours some leniency during raid times,

Started around when I was 17 or 18. That range. And that was back in Wrath when Ulduar was out but the Crusader dungeon / raid wasn’t out yet. I just remember the launcher having that star serpent constellation whatever thingy on it when I was new.

30 now and I gotta say I still feel mentally like a teenager

4.255% of my life. HAve about 2 years in playing wow. Yeah I have few years on me. When I get carded for beer…I actually get a laugh out of it.

February here too, PISCES GAANG. You figured it out waay quicker than I did, I played all through ZA til about TOC before I figured out what I was doing & had a Tauren Hunter at 70, sitting in Dalaran because I would use the WoTLK free trial once a month to level my engineering & dick around in the zones, until I got WoTLK & Cataclysm for christmas that year, which finally let me play the actual game for real & level this paladin & was never interested in raiding, so I just did a bunch of pvp as a holy paladin, not even realizing how busted it was, then didn’t really play the during mop, totally quit during wod & legion then just recently got back into the game last year. My parents had absolutely no idea what I was playing, so I couldnt really convince them to get me the expansions until I got old enough to actually understand what I was playing, lmao.

I’m Aquarius. :o
