This was a fun read though 
I got decent at PVM mage in Cata, but always been a PvP main. Now more into raiding and M+ and returning from a prolonged break of several years, I’m still watching videos.
I got frost down pretty well, sometimes my AoE in M+ is lacking and I’m mashing buttons but I’m steadily improving. I switched to fire and saw numbers I’d never seen before in lower M+2/3/4 but took my own key from an 8 to a 6 and my friends from an 8 to a 7 trying to prog as fire. It’s very appealing given the rings and neckalace and gear seeming to heavily favor fire.
I’m missing something big from fire, like how I was casting Flurry before burning my fingers of frost last month before I took to Reddit and my dps on frost rose significantly.
