How is unholy consistently the worst melee in game?

Problem is so many specs these days burn 1 of their many mobility buttons and the spell doesn’t even go off

Classic example is every Druid made a macro to wild charge a treant on grip charge

I feel like that’s equivalent to saying “well, all the mobility you listed before serves one function - to move your character elsewhere”

which is a little silly

The options you have for using your grip, be it for damage or peeling, are varied. Even with static field totem existing, it’s still not something every class just casually has access to.

Also, just like mobility can be stopped with any form of cc, it’s reasonable to have options to avoid grip. Otherwise it may well be a death sentence

Rogue can step to team, DK can’t grip team, warr can leap aggro or away, etc

Atleast death grip isnt a casted spell that can be kicked / dispelled

To put it in a way that you can empathize with assuming this is your main,

Imagine you can’t charge a mage because it rooted you, or you can’t charge an evoker while their Nullifying Shroud buff is active.

Also no offense but you didn’t even know DKs had grip immunities until 4 hours ago.

This is my main, yes. I’ve dabbled in every class at one point (emphasis on dabbled).

Like I said before, I think an argument could be made for grip working through roots. I feel the same way about life grip.

also these are fair. I still stand by what I said about the potential to peel (since you can’t peel with traditional mobility alone), but I understand the mobility race issues.

Imagine having an ability that lets you escape from point A to point B, or go attack from point A to point B.

Death Grip literally just pulls a target to the DK. Okay, that can interrupt or help someone, but in most cases, it just draws attention to the DK. If the DK is the target… what is he going to pull? Who? In that case, Death Grip doesn’t help at all, while something like Shadow Step, Roll, etc., can do a much better job defensively.

Roots, spell reflection, knock back immunity, precognition.
The bare minimum they could do for the spell is to not treat it like a knockback.

And this is minor compared to everything else wrong with the class. This is just one ability.

Ah, I see. That was directed at the idea that there were too many things stopping it.

Every death knight I run into in solo que is consistently the top dmg. So I think this is a dreadfully wrong post.

You guys are basically a warlock that wears plate. spreading diseases and plagues.

Something can be doing a lot of fluff damage without actually having any killing power.

except we actually wear cloth and warlocks wear plate in comparisons!

I wish they would restore Necrotic Strike.

With how much mobility people have i don’t even think necro strike would be that good tbh

Good point. Might have to make it stackable with Death Coils. I know it will never return sadly.

I mean, plaguebringer is a noticeable dps increase over clawing shadows and I rarely ever play that because it feels like you’re barely in melee range as is if you can help it. I can’t imagine old necrotic strikes being better than necrotic wounds unless it was crazy overtuned.
