I was wanting to go Paladin tomorrow with the start of Fresh but I just realized the honor system/bgs wont be coming out until Phase 2 which as far as I know they’ve only said it’d be coming out around “late winter”, which could be February or March for all I know. So what I wanna know is for those of you who did do Paladin during 2019 fresh, what was it like prior to MC/BG’s?
I mainly wanna focus on PvP, but heard Ret Paladin doesn’t even begin to become somewhat viable in PvP until like late MC/R13. If I wanna focus on Ret PvP do I have to just like bite the bullet and go Healbot throughout P1? I’m not looking for troll lulcow replies I’m looking for genuine feedback.
In raids you’ll mostly be a cleanse bot and casting one heal spell when not cleansing. They’ll love you for the buffs though. 3 paladins = 3 blessings and 3 auras.
In 5 mans it gets depressing. Cant DPS. Cant really tank. Can’t really heal.
Paladins got their mojo in TBC. Just in time for Horde to get them haha.
Actually I’ve tanked as Prot in leveling dungeons its entirely possible. Especially if most the mobs are green. And since we have dual spec now, we can switch back to Ret while questing
I might make a Paladin alt but I don’t know. I really don’t want to deal with Alliance problems on a PvP server for a year. (And there’s only one server). I’ll just wait for BE.
Ret isnt really good in Classic WoW. TBC is better but not by much. Then in Wrath Ret is a beast. In raids, you do less than 25% of a warriors damage. In PvP, you will have limited success.
Dual spec isn’t coming with the launch of the servers. The most Blizzard has said is “At a later date”. So most likely not until P1, or more realistically since you don’t really NEED two separate specs until P2 when PvP comes out since PvP and PvE are often times wildly different builds, I’d imagine it wont come out until P2.
There is no such thing as a “Ret Paladin” in Classic. There are Paladins, a defensive support class that has incredibly strong utility/buffs/healing potential. The talent trees accentuate the strengths of the class further by either offering more support potential or self sustain utility be it defensive (Protection) or offensive (Retribution).
If you want to play a class that uses a 2 handed weapon, wears plate and hits stuff very hard, you have that in the Warrior class. The trade off is that the Warrior relies extremely heavily on the support of other classes to shine and even to some extent, function. Luckily, those classes exist - the Paladin, Druid and Priest.
Hope that helps!
