How is hunter REALLY?

It’s completely fine. The problem with the Hunter class is poor defensives and no real utility that warrants bringing it over other classes, which isn’t an issue until harder content - like Mythic raids, Mythic 15+ dungeons, high rated PvP (2400 I think? not entirely sure). As you get into the higher level content, these issues become glaringly obvious as you effectively need a pocket healer in PvE content or you’ll die, because Hunter defensives are horrible and there’s no unique utility like Chaos Brand or Mark of the Wild that can entice groups to want a hunter over something with more durability, the similar/more damage, and that provides a unique buff.

Don’t get mad at me because you do not understand what time context is.

If you want to PvP, dont even bother with hunter.

For PvE, there is a reason why hunter is not meta right now and these reasons bleed all the way through. Its nonsense to say that this wouldnt affect a player that doesnt play the highest challenges, it will already be apparent in middling content. Hunters have terrible survivability and low burst, both things that make them undesirable in any type of content, no matter the difficulty.
Add on top of that the reliance on a very rare bow from a raid endboss and you have a pretty weak experience.

If you only want to play it for the Exotic Pets, go for it, but know that you will be at a disadvantage in group content.

I am very glad about my decision to finally shelf my hunter, that i have been maining since Vanilla. It kinda pained me, but seeing the current state of hunter makes me not wanna look back.

Seriously, how do you understand cognitive dissonance but not “You are being cognitively dissident.”?

And that’s the hill you wanna die on.

I’m new to playing anything other than a brain dead frost DK and I made this hunter for this xpac about 1/2 way in. All I care about is casual BG PVP. Here is my 2 cents for w/e its worth.

  • DT was fun and I assume it was only taken away due to geared players 100-0 ungeared players who don’t know how to stop rapid fire in its tracks. The burst we have now nothing compared to other classes. Honestly every class has options to stop the burst in its tracks, even other hunters. You just have to know when to use your D. Perhaps if turning on rapid fire did some actual visual players would more easily stop it.

  • Hunter has far too many buttons and I don’t even use a pet.

  • I still do good damage and can win fights but mostly I just run around BGs and try to never get spotted.

  • If anyone looks at me funny with no turtle or both heals I explode. To Warriors and Rogues I am basically free food.

  • Warriors and rogues have a lemming mentality. They will literally put their hands in a blender and run into 20 people if it means killing the hunter.

  • Most BGs I don’t try to fight if I am spotted. I just run like hell.

  • Traps, which are supposed to be used as set up or combat tricks are never used as such, they are just tools to aid running like hell.

  • I feel like a fair and balanced class in an unfair world.

Honestly this fairness is ok with me. Classes should be fair. The problem is solo marks doesn’t really have any flavor. I shoot from range and I have a chakram. That’s it. I don’t have a pet, my traps are just different flavors of run away, Really rapid fire was the only thing special we did.

I still like him though. Sniper shot is my favorite spell and going back to being able to stop things like rapid fire, my sniper shot has been dodged countless times by players. Just like it could be done with rapid fire.

You’re going to die on the hill of saying something 100% wrong but can’t just admit you said it wrong. :ok_hand:t2:

Or maybe I should say:

There be the hill you no longer want to live on.

That’s a phrase right?

As in currently… Wow.

You have established you are a casual hunter player who is comfortable with the changes and lack a highschool education.

You probably never heard someone use time context with complex words because intelligent people avoid talking to you.

Hahaha.

Oh dude you are hysterical.

Thank you. I needed a good laugh.

You’re so right, all the really smart people love to say things like cognitively dissident :joy:

Please keep going. This is great.

I forgot, what cutting edge content are you running again that somehow I’m more casual then?

OP, it just depends on what you want.

As a casual raider, I find BM lets me do all the open world content fairly easily. And it seems a lot of fights both raid and open world are fairly high movement so I appreciate the mobility.

We are lacking in defensives and it shows on high unavoidable damage fights. You really need to be proactive and very cognizant if your health. Losing the extra leech benefit really hurts.

Apparently we are balanced around 4 tier and the bow….and I’m at 2 tier and no bow, so much sadness. I don’t know why our weapons are so rare and absolutely vital to doing well. It is disappointing.

However, I’m still playing BM and will get my KSM and AoTC comfortably. If you want to push higher, I think BM may be more challenging in that content.

Main a Envoker in raid content, and then revisit your opinion.

I am sure there are situations where it’s different, but in my experience of stacking, soaking, and unavoidable damage, I drop approximately 25% to 45% more than everyone else I group with. I feel like its my low versatility, but after several weeks of content, it seems to be a shared experience across this forum.

Even rated pvp to 1800 rn is atrocious for hunters. They’re basically trash tier with their defensives, the outdated skill shot cc system that’s easily broken (yes it’s seriously trash, no one else has it, and if you say shaman totems, the reticle is a lot larger,) lack of passive healing, and damage is trash unless you manage to have 4 piece as BM. If anyone was even attempting to get into pvp right now and go to 1800 as hunter, you better be a glad as hunter previously because you’re already outgeared and you’ll get trained all day by unkitable melee. Hunter is not in a good spot, it hasn’t been for awhile, and that’s why people are even more annoyed about the DT removal and 0 communication as to the direction that hunter is going in, any spec for that matter.

I’m glad you’ve said this, and honestly a lot of us in my guild have come to the conclusion that it’s not just hunters, but all mail dps in general. Evoker, shamans, and hunters all get trucked a lot harder than any other class in the game currently. We’ve all been speculating that there’s some sort of messed up modifier in the code that makes mail wearing dps take 25% more dmg than anyone else. It’s interesting to hear that other people are noticing this as well.

cog·ni·tive·ly

/ˈkäɡnədivlē/

adverb

  1. in a way that relates to or affects cognition.

“it serves as a distraction from cognitively demanding tasks”

But I understand it may have been my use of dissident instead of dissidence.
But I was correctly using it as a time context.

dis·si·dence

/ˈdisədns/

noun

  1. protest against official policy; dissent.

“the dissidence of the intellectuals”

dis·si·dent

/ˈdisədnt/

noun

  1. a person who opposes official policy, especially that of an authoritarian state.

“a dissident who had been jailed by a military regime”

You are the one arguing that we are good casual play. I forgive you though, as you seem forgetful and have trouble with English since this is also all text and you could just scroll up.

I’m also blocking you now, as this seems below me.
Have a nice life.

BM Hunter’s solid once you get certain break points in stats.

It’s only downfall really, and its more of a class issue is its lack of defensives. Once you start doing higher content you run out of rotatable CD’s to live.

BM’s aoe is also tied to a very small radius around your main pet during beast cleave. If you pixel stack 30 mobs, the damage is massive. But if they are spread out youre sol.

You’re literally looking up the wrong word and doubling down…

It’s DISSONANCE, not DISSIDENCE…

If you read your own google definitions you’d see it made no sense… smh calling me stupid while doubling down on being wrong with “cognitively dissident”…

I enjoy it. Is it the best of the best? Absolutely not but it’s fun. DPS is alright. Survivability is pure trash. At least from my experiences.

They said dissident to begin with, said you didn’t know the difference, then gave you the definition, and you still haven’t caught on…
