Worgen are one of the races that finally Brough back some darker storytelling to the Alliance
Showing how the class conflict literally tore the society apart. Alliance is in desperate need of darker themes and characters.

They just aren’t really able to tell a story about 2 factions.
The story isn’t enjoyable for Horde focused players when it’s all about Alliance diplomacy, but it also wasn’t great for Alliance focused players when it was all about Horde aggression. Back in the day there were plenty of complaints about how Orc centric things got.
Naturally, a lot of the forums like to dismiss the complaints as “they’re just mad it’s not all about them for once!”.
What we usually end up getting is a focus on a handful of heroes or worse, the occasional attempt to do faction conflict which they only seem to have 1 script for that particular story arc.
No one said the Alliance wasn’t doing anything, my comment is on the state of the Alliance by the time we started our journey in Azeroth:
This is not incorrect, much less “insanely” incorrect, it’s a major plot point of the Alliance storyline.
When was that? BC? Wrath? How were those Orc-centric?
Blizzard used to be able to deliver a Horde experience for Horde players, and an Alliance experience for Alliance players.
And then… they stopped doing that.
Which was stupid of them.
Im still eagerly awaiting the day we get to kill him.
This isnt a horde v alliance thing.
I just really want to kill him.
Hated him since i did the goblin starting zone and somehow, his awful personality never won me over afterwards.
Are there seriously still people who are so invested in the story of this game? Even after all the retcons, clichés, cringe, and plot holes? Oof…
We are so back, bby!
I too would like to see the story go more towards faction war. After all, that is what intrigued many people to the Warcraft universe in the first place. I think one of the most interesting aspects of the game is how players choose sides based off what they find morally correct. Or because they just like the aesthetics, lol.
Unforunately with Anduin stepping back into the spotlight, it’s unlikely he will be in favor of any type of war with the Horde. Alleria is probably going to become a raid boss after going down the same path of power crazed madness her sister did, the factions will unite to take her down, and we’ll just see the Sylvanas storyline concept reused.
That would be delightful, but I doubt it will ever happen.
The complaints where mostly about how central a lot of Cata was to Thrall and how much MoP focused on the Horde civil war and Garrosh while most of what the Alliance got to do was reactionary to whatever the Horde was doing.
Which all culminated in a Orc themed expansion.
Alliance players generally don’t like the “Alliance experience” being to exist purely to just react to what the Horde is doing.
I agree, it seems unlikely. I think more likely what will happen is Turalyon talks her out of pursuing the void any further, probably by comparing her to Sylvanas and pointing out her hypocrisy, blah blah blah.
If they follow the same model as Azshara, Sylvanas, and probably Xalatath, if Alleria does anything wrong it will just be revealed that it wasn’t her fault and a man was responsible for everything and he must be destroyed.
Turalyon is the most obvious suspect but I’m not sure how that would quite work out, story-wise. Of course this is Blizzard so it doesn’t need to make sense, nor should we expect it to.
It’s funny that people complain about Blizzard being “too disney”, because they’re not. Maleficent didn’t need a man behind the curtain making her bad. Nor did the evil queen in Snow White. But Blizzard just refuses to do female villains, for some reason. Disney was way ahead of Blizzard, in every way. (And I won’t even re-post Pinocchio drinking and smoking his cigar.)
Problem is its been done to death and in just about every way possible.
I dont think its possible to have the game keep that dynamic going any longer.
The storyline of faction war has gone stagnant.
They could keep the peace and have the 2 factions off doing their own things for sure.
But fighting again? I dont think it could happen and still tell a good story.
I really tire of this. The whole “something else was behind it the whole time!” is the most annoying copout to explain a good character gone bad. This is why Garrosh is so highly regarded as a villain, because all his actions were decided by him and him alone, and was a slow buildup that happened across several expansions. I can respect him, and the story writing that went behind creating such a character.
I also agree with this. It’s a hard middle ground to find at this point with 20+ years of lore foundation to work with.
If I was the warchief - I would just target Stormwind and take control.
What is the boy king going to do ? Hold my hand and cry ?
Alliance is at the weakest position they have been, they don’t have a leader. They don’t have someone who can command.
With that in mind their fear is what if someone from Horde becomes strong and take the war chief mantle. Then alliance is in trouble.
Alliance playing diplomacy and we need to punish them.
Slow build-up? He tried to murder Thrall and take over the Horde at the end of Burning Crusade, the same expansion he was introduced.
Stop complaining or we’ll introduce another one of your leaders to our patented diplomacy.
Yes, so from TBC to MoP, when we killed him, his character was being written. This is a character who started in a village in Nagrand and ended as a tyrannical Warchief. That doesn’t happen overnight. A lot of Garrosh lore is in the War Crimes novel.
Very slow burn compared to say, the Jailer. But let’s not talk about that one…
Edit: Sorry, we didn’t kill Garrosh, just ended his reign.
Anduin was hardly a “puppet” and as I recall he helped finally bring Onyxia down and more importantly Bolvar was still leading the Stormwind.
Yes Onyxia’s little power play was causing some friction but it was never enough to truly stop the Alliance. Heck, the most she was doing was stopping Stormwind from getting more involved in world affairs.
Garrosh didn’t change 1 single bit from his introduction in Nagrand to his death, though.
The only difference was that Blizzard wrote Thrall as an idiot.
Garrosh was the same tyrannical warchief at the start of Cata as he was at the end of MoP.
