I am considering buying the iMac with the 5K monitor. How would WoW look like on this monitor?
I tried looking for a video in true 4K+ and the ones that weren’t were very much worse than the 4K+ resolution videos.

You likely wont have enough GPU power to max it out.
The 5K resolution is designed for it.
let me save you some trouble. If you want to edit photos and video. The iMac is for you.
If you want to game then just piece together a rig with windows OS.
whats the GPU? I assuming it has enough power to run 5K on the desktop, and web browsing. Watching videos.
But i seriously doubt its ability to game at 5K
You aren’t going to get high framerates if you play at that resolution. The iMac funnily doesn’t have the horsepower to properly power its 5k display through games. Then again, not even a 2080ti would help you out. It is best to grab a nice 1440p 144hz IPS display with freesync/g-sync. If you are really willing to drop heavy cash, then get one of the HDR1000 certified high-end models like an Asus ROG PG27UQ, but only if you have a good enough GPU. Even then, with a 2080ti, if you play at 4k, you won’t hit 120+ fps in many newer games.
If the game was formatted for 4K resolution it will look beautiful on that screen.
Macs are designed to look pretty (5K). Anything beyond the basics won’t run like you’re hoping for.
Games need to be made for 4K monitors. That way they look amazing.
Google. @Jomjom
whats the GPU?
I’m trying to help you
Like it runs at 2 FPS probably, given that you’re trying to do it on a Mac.
Don’t buy an imac
I’ll be downgrading to my old setup:
Pentium 4 875P Chipset with a 3.4 ghz processor
512 mb of DDR2
Radeon 9200SE 128mb
IBM E74 17" Black CTR
Is it even possible to see the difference?? I am dead serious, it’s it actually possible to see the difference at all?
Let me help you out a bit. When it comes to running videogames, the most important part of a computer is the GPU, aka the graphics card. A graphics card affects the resolution, framerate, and graphical settings that you are able to run a game at.
At the moment, the most powerful gaming graphics card, an Nvidia RTX 2080ti, will struggle to run games at 4K and at 144 frames per second, the framerate that most gamers aim for. You could run games at 4K at 60 frames per second, but most gamers prioritize framerate over resolution, especially because the difference between 1440p and 2160p isn’t really noticeable on computer monitors under 30 inches.
There are also other aspects that make a monitor good for gaming, such as input lag, motion blur, image flicker, brightness, hdr support, contrast, viewing angles, black and gray uniformity, local dimming, and color accuracy. If you want the best monitor possible, then check out reviews at a website such as rtings, displayninja, or maybe ask around the r/monitors subreddit.
Back to graphics cards, the options available for the iMac aren’t impressive. If you are going to buy your computer primarily for gaming, then I’d recommend a pre-built gaming PC from vendors such as Origin, Maingair, iBuyPower, Cyberpower, HP Omen, or more. The best cards out at the high-range would be the RTX 2060, 2070, 2080, and 2080ti, but there are many options depending on your price range.
Apple produces great computing power.
I am generally curious how WoW looks like on this iMac 27”. If this is something that can be tested internally.
Classic is a very old game. Those graphics compared to retail are night and day. If the game looked amazing on this iMac’s screen I would definitely buy that computer.
Classic is an amazing game and I prefer how everything looked in Classic. Such resolution on my screen with this game is going to look absolutely beautiful.
Looking at the new 5K iMacs. Watching a few YouTube reviews and such on the BEST one.
Looks like you’ll have to run a lower resolution, like 2K in order for framerates to be playable (IMO) with high-ultra settings.
You’re going to pay a premium for a 5K monitor you wont be able to fully utilize outside of the desktop, unless you’re playing toaster games that arent designed for 5K anyway.
I also recommend you install some 3rd party fan controller software called “smcFanControl”. Otherwise you’re iMac WILL OVERHEAT and the solder will soften.
EDIT: i have experience taking a propane torch and cooking the imacs gpu to reset the soldering
Classic is a toaster game what do you mean.
then you should be fine.
But I am saying before they release Classic. Check how this game looks like on the 27” iMac. If it looks amazing I’m buying that computer.
