How does leveling a shaman feel to you?

I love Shaman. I mostly heal in PVP, but sometimes I DPS and I really enjoy it.

But I kinda feel like Elemental is not a great leveling spec (I’ll give it a shot in TWW). Enhancement feels better but I still wouldn’t say it’s one of the Top 5 specs. Does anyone think leveling as a Shaman is overall harder than all other classes?

I don’t have a strong feeling on this, it’s just something I’m dwelling on as I think about what to level first in TWW.

Ele with spirit walkers graces and cooldown reduction from flash of lightning will make Ele a breeze. Just hit a bunch of mobs from range too and CL to death. Root totem or static totem (WM on) to control mobs for how you need to.

I’m all about it.

Ele leveling feels great. Enhance feels good.

Both good leveling specs

Enhancement is probably one of the worst specs for leveling. You are auto-attacking or hardcasting Lightning Bolt, Enhancement is Elemental Shaman standing in melee and you won’t learn anything from leveling Enhancement. Highly recommend leveling as Elemental and Resto.

Elemental is a fairly strong leveling spec when combined with shamans natural utility. You have heavy aoe burst damage combined with a bunch of mob control and self heals. You even have a tank pet for harder pulls or if you get yourself in trouble.

I lvled both and ele is by far the best and most fun

If youre auto attacking and hard casting lightning bolts as enhance while lvling, youre doing it wrong.

I am guessing that he is talking about from level 1-70. And leaning much more towards early. Otherwise…I don’t get it.

Remember you don’t have MSW talents (EA, wolves and Swirling Maelstrom), AoE (Crash Lightning and Hailstorm) and shiny abilities (pwave and wolves) during leveling. You are autoattacking and hardcasting Lightning Bolt / Chain Lightning at a low level. Enhancement feels much better when you are level 50+. Resto Shaman is 2-3x faster than Enh for leveling and highly recommend playing Resto Shaman until you get gears at max level for Enhancement. Unless you want a miserable experience for leveling, then enh is for you.

What I figured. You guys probably mean the same thing in reality.

You are just grabbing Acid Rain as Resto Shaman and you are pretty much good to go for leveling, Resto Shaman blow Enh out harder during leveling

Leveling as Enhancement is so good. Thats how I usually level although with the new races I am leveling them as Shamans I will try to level one as elemental and see how it feels.

Even then. Stormstrike you unlock at lvl 11 and you can get lava lash early as 13.

Bro you get stormstrike at 11 and lava lash early as 13. If you are auto attacking and not pressing those 2 buttons while lvling youre doing it wrong.

Enhance lvling is a breeze if you play the class with more than just auto attacking and lightning bolt hard casting lmfao.

You are on copium. Enh early-mid levels suck badly and CDs for Stormstrike (with very low mastery and no SS talents), Lava Lash and Ice Strike are so long especially without instant AoE spells (until level 29/31). You won’t have anything until they are back on CDs so you have to hardcast LB/CL or auto-attacking. Enh is much better at level 51+ when you get wolves and EA.

Resto does more damage and gets more XP than Enh during leveling. I highly recommend leveling Shaman as resto then sticking with it until max level and getting gears for Enh.

Lol nah if you think lvling anything is difficult in retail you dont even play the game. Enhance is a good leveling spec. Not the best, but you obviously are doing it wrong since you claim its just auto attack and CASTED lightning bolts. Delusional.

Low-level enhancement is a little rough, but most classes don’t have all their tools early on.

Exactly. Enhance isn’t great at the very early levels but like half the classes aren’t and it’s not even close to as bad as rogues for example.

Yea, Survival Hunter cant even melee until 13 unless you just want to auto attack
