Before i commited myself to spending any points, i did a lot of research on the professions i already had…and have had ever since i made this toon; Mining and Herbalism.
There was quite a bit of info covering everything i needed to know. I pretty much picked and am focusing on the parts that will bring a good stream of coin to my pocket…refining seems to be a pretty lucrative choice for me.
Ill eventually get it all but im pretty happy with it so far. It will however take a good bit of time to knock it all out and be fully speced into a full fledged raw mats refiner.
They should not let people just switch points at will. the purpose is to distribute crafts so that not everyone is an expert in everything at the beginning of the expansion. This promotes more trade.
However, A lot of stuff about how things would work was not clear or even available in guides until people actually started doing the professions. So, they should have allowed you to change them ONCE, once you figured some things out. This could have been accomplished as a one-time quest reward that dropped an item that you could use to reset them.
I actually made quite a bit of money using transmute alchemy but the long-term potential of it was not there and I agree with that. And yeah to a point I think they should have gave you a reset but at the same time there’s going to be a point where all of them are filled in.
Why would I choose transmute as priority in the first place? Good thing, I chose Phial mastery. It’s helping me on all DF content and it sells at fair price.
This is really the main reason we’re locked in, if you think about it. I do suspect later on, when it’s more trivial, we’ll see some sort of reset system, but to have it at the beginning would have been devastating.
It’s really is easy enough to be patient and work up other trees. Sure, I have a few points I’d re-do, mostly because I no longer need them, but in the long run it doesn’t matter.
It’s intended to be a trap for the unwary. If you are not even aware of what questions you should be asking when their carefully worded “advice” tells you to “choose now”, you may make an unrecoverable mistake, in which case it sucks to be you. Unrecoverable mistakes are one of those “RPG elements from the roots of wow” that devs are so infatuated with.
When the only solution is to reroll because misleading information in the game meant one or more of your choices was a trap, that’s bad for the game. Because people quit over nonsense like that.
Do nothing and be stuck and unable to reach your goal.
Reroll and start over, having wasted a lot of time and money.
Quit the game.
I guess it’s like a DnD game, where some game masters have a goal of outwitting the players, which isn’t fun for the other players.
The war on the playerbase continues. You will be eradicated.
i dunno about all of that but i would’ve abused it for sure if i could respec my spec points. i don’t think blizz wants people to abuse stuff like this because well if i could think about how i’d abuse it in 10 seconds i’m sure someone who cares about it could do way more.
Just imagine if they had built something into the system that would have prevented you from choosing to exploit, but without resulting in players quitting the game over what they saw as unfair game mechanics that now leaves them with no good choice.
