BGs/EpicBGs are all but abandoned by the devs. It’s basically the wild west. You’ll find much more quality PvP once you have enough gear to play BGblitz. I don’t like that they’ve abandoned them to the wolves, but it’s the world we are living in right now.
Gear (honor/conquest) can be acquired by crate farming (BLECH) and doing the PvP quests in Dornogal. As well as doing world quests in War Mode for bloody tokens for the bloody token PvP gear which is very good (better than honor gear, not better than conquest gear).
If you really want to, you can buy green gear that is worse than honor gear, crafted PvP gear, off the auction house. It’s called “Algari” gear. It’s going to probably be miles better in item level than your PvE gear. This crafted gear will launch your PvP specific item level up to get the better stuff easier. The tooltip will specify “PvP item level” on it.
Thanks a lot man. I think I actually did a couple of the Warmode world quests a while back. I read a little about “crate farming” which seems a bit convoluted.
I did a bunch of Alterac Valley and Arathi Highlands back in the day. Are people not doing this much anymore?
Nopers. Battleground Blitz is the wave. And it’s actually pretty fun and updated, like faster base mount speeds and flag capture speeds. Just more “fun” feeling really.
You need to reread the WHOLE post. Didn’t miss that. You see, those were the words that tell you he knew what he was doing was going to be taken as rude, because they were. But you know that. You’re just being intentionally obtuse, because this is, you know, the internet.
If we were being rude we’d have pointed out long ago that you’re a stereotypical old dude playing a male nelf hunter who thinks he’s better than everyone else because he’s older than them and that for some reason means he deserves respect when you’re the one visiting this place for the first time talking to those who have been here for years instead of being humble enough to recognise other people know more than you about PvP.
Lugobrious took time out of his day to explain why you could have been queuing against teams that were steamrolling you and your friends but you decided to chuck a hissy fit at him for the rest of the conversation because you didn’t like that he used the word “dude”.
I’m 32 years old and under normal circumstances this would be ironic and out of place of me to say to someone older than me, but you need to grow up and stop taking things the wrong way.
Get honor geared (it’s 710ilvl in PVP, most of your gear is lower than 710 ilvl), do your bloody token WQs, and farm conquest to put varnishes on your tier gear.
Outside of that, look up what embellished gear hunters are using for your free 3 pieces of crafted gear–don’t waste bloody tokens on weapons (you’ll get free conquest weapons once you’ve reached 2500 conquest). You can look at custom groups under the PVP tab and get full conquest geared in 4-5 hours if you can tolerate flying around collecting crates in ‘crate’ groups as well.
Also, you’ll probably want to lighten up some if you want to PVP. Wit and thick skin are about the only way to assimilate.

You see, if anyone actually took the time to READ my OP they might, just MIGHT realize that he did NOT answer my question. He posted a self-serving response to ANOTHER question I did not ask. One in which I was BAFFLED by not totally pw0n1ng everything in sight.
But I did not expect that. What happened is actually what I expected. You see my basic question was this. Is the problem I experience 20 years ago still a problem today? The answer to that seem to be YES. There are now, however, ways outside of BG and such to get geared up, though, so probably do that before diving into the deep end.
But I had to get that from other posts. Not the one you are whining about.

Yes they kinda did it, there is a separate que if you are below a certain honor level that only ques you with other low honor level people. But if you are grouped up with some guildies who PvP alot they probably have high enough honor level to put your group in the main games with experienced players.
As far as facing premade groups all night… yes, because you as well were playing in a premade group. In random bgs a 2-5 man groups get qued against each other, as much as possible. So you were in a 3 man queing into most likely 5 man groups of experienced PvPers, that’s just how it goes, groups get qued against groups.
If you just que games with no gear, yup. That’s how it’s been in WoW PvP since forever if you come in mid season.
You can get caught up rather quickly with crate farms tho. It’s boring but it’s reliable and fast. In the group finder go to the custom tab and search “crate” and you’ll find a few groups running assuming it’s not weird off hours. They’re raid groups flying around to the different zones in a rotation getting the crates that drop from the planes. Each crate gives 50 bloody tokens, 60 conquest, and 150 honor, and a good group with a solid rotation will be getting a crate every 5 minutes. So it’s very quick to get caught up and be fully geared in PvP purples. It’s boring yes, but some YouTube or Netflix on your second monitor can alleviate that, just fly to the zone the raid leader calls and collect your free currency. It’s faaar far quicker to get caught up with gearing than slamming your head against the wall quing up while undergeared and hoping the team carries you to a win so you can some currency.
