How Do You Pronounce "Xuen"?

I’d say ‘Shwen’ or ‘Zuen’. But I don’t know the correct pronunciation of Chinese, so idrk.

It’s not actually a Chinese name, so this is just an academic exercise in educated guesswork. Whoever made up the name may have had a very different pronunciation in mind.

i pronounce it Zoo-En, but its said fairly quickly. so i guess it could sound like Zwhen.

and Xi is pronounced differently. its pronounce as Shee. so it might be the same for Xuen. in that it sounds different than its spelt. im pretty sure in one of the ingame cutscenes one of the NPCs like Yulon pronounces his name as Zoo-En.

Zu-ehn

Going off American English based pronunciations in an American English based game, X is usually pronounced like Z, other pronunciations like Ex-oo-en are unlikely and weird

Are you okay?

Zoo-En.

Xu = “Zoo”
En = “En”

Pretty sure zoo-en is the correct the way to enunciate it.

You really need to watch the 5/10 (yesterday as of 30mins ago here in Cali) episode of 60Minutes.

That’s almost how I say it, and couldn’t think of a way to attempt to explain it. But you did it perfectly with the Français pronunciation of, “je.”

So, instead of two syllables, I think it’s either, like the French word, juene, or add a w to it for, “jweune.

Either pronunciation it would still be one syllable. Of course I’m probably wrong, as I don’t speak Mandarin, or Cantonese.

Yeah this is how I try to pronounce it too. Shoe-enn will basically be close enough, but the real sound is pretty hard to explain.

zew-en. thats me though, I am positive its not right lol

I hear that. I was like “Jeeze… how do I even explain this? There’s no combination of letters in English that really makes sense.”

I just assume it’s an Americanized rendition of a fictional Mandarin dialect, so it would likely be pronounced Zu-oo-en.

I just rename anyone with a weird hard to pronounce name Sally. Sally is a good name.
