How do you like resto shaman?

hi all. im usually not a fan shaman due to aesthetic but i made another one to see how it is in midnight.

there’s totem and farseer. ive tried both and it seems just ok.

i don’t like farseer at all bc i don’t want to be using riptide and the ancestors feel boring. it acutally reminds me of hpriest with naru, or druid with the tree/deer and i pretty much don’t want another “pet” class since i use druid for that.

however the totem side is pretty fun, positioning the totems but it almost feels like it could be more somehow. i don’t know what it’s missing but it’s basically spam 3 totems and move them and use chain heal lol. wondering if there is a bit more depth. i feel very little control with totem placement since the skill moves all 3 on the same spot.

how abt you guys?

:cherries:

They killed the spec with pruning. It use to be full of utility, totems, and different things to do based on the situation.

You kind of nailed it tho, place a totem and spam HW/Chain Heal with riptides in between.

I personally never hard cast chain heal, at least in pvp

We use to have a shorter interrupt (i’d argue it should be 12 seconds again because in pvp the lock out window is the same as a global). Defensive totems (earthern wall, i miss you), thunderstorm, double cap totem stun, totemic recall where you cool instantly get your two of your totems back. And more.

I also agree that farseer is extremely boring. So I exclusively play totemic.

I wish that we could get an overhaul like paladin did, but I don’t see it happening. Spec is a shell of what it use to be.

this is op. ive wrote this originally at 81 but im now 90. ive tried both farseer and totem. im sorry but what is totemic suppose to be? like…how is it better than farseer? it’s like poor man’s farseer bc i drop and mess with more tomes on the former than latter. Just trying to figure what’s so good about totem which is a shame because i thought it’ll play pretty fun but this ain’t it

totem needs a rework and tbh farseer is just like naaru and that one hpal thing (the one you have like a guardian which i think was in wrath?) but now more permanent. feel like farseer could do more with ancestors as it’s pretty much a basic passive pet class that just increases heal and dps, kinda boring.

also unleash life needs to do more as it’s really only good on farseer. healing rain needs to be instant or…like massive aoe increase.

all i got for now. it’s not terrible to play but yeah

:grapes:

The class feels extremely boring, I just got through all my +10s and still feel it needs some more snazzy a feel.

Unleash life is tied to our 2 and 4 set, yet feels REALLY lame and any time you tie a set bonus to a talent is just a bad idea as it forces use of the talent. Especially after they expressed a desire for build diversity.

Other classes feel like they can move health bars a bit better than we can unless we have CDs up. With CDs we can pump and in raid if I wanna totally dump mana I can keep up with an evoker, but apart from that evokers passively out heal us by a large margin as seen by even heroic logs. Healing Wave and Chain heal for Farseer REALLY needs some attention and some kind of mechanic for Totemic needs to reduce the timings on throwing down totems.

All in all it’s a simple problem with complex solutions….

Our class is BORING, and as Max said on Stream “Shaman just isnt good on any fight in the raid at the moment.”

We are only there for a buff to mastery and that’s it.

Kind of a harsh take, but give Rsham +20% healing buff across the board. I still wouldn’t play it.

Also the mastery should be changed and replaced with the talent instead, Resurgence.

Something like this that also stacks up more with mastery. “Your direct heal criticals refund a percentage of your maximum mana: 0.80% from Healing Wave, 0.48% from Riptide, and 0.20% from Chain Heal.”

WAYYY better than our current PVP orientated mastery.

Im still leveling but I got a 83 MW, 81 RDruid and my RShaman. AT THIS POINT IN MY LEVELING…… The Shaman is far and away TONS easier for me to heal on. Pretty sure that’ll change, but at this time for me RShaman is Healing for Dummies. My Druid I spend more time Regrowth spamming than any other spell. My MW isnt bad but still far and away slower than my Shaman

So you want to take the healer with arguably the worst throughput, and change their mastery, so that it becomes the only healer that doesn’t receive throughput from mastery?? Is this what the kids are calling ragebait? :joy:

They’d need to balance the throughput (which they already need to do), but if they are going to make us a spam heals class we need the mana to do it.

These threads are wild to me.

Rsham is perhaps the best healer in keys now. At least on the same tier as Rdruid and every other healer is kinda mid compared to them.

I understood a lot of Rsham complaints before the later beta and pre-season tuning which buffed CH, HR and moved some talents around. I also somewhat understand them in the early beta/pre-Midnight world where tanks were immortal and all that mattered was burst healing AoE mechanics or debuffs on targets, which other healers often do better and with more interesting gameplay.

But now in Midnight, ES with its permanent DR and respectable healing is one of the better methods of tank healing in the game where every other healer is dedicating 20-40% of their throughput and globals into it. So ES frees up a lot of resources, especially as key levels climb over 12’s.

Spot healing with HW and Unleash is unconditionally top tier, which is also one of the better ways of handling that when other healers either require multiple globals to setup or are utterly reliant on procs. Discs are relying on 350k Shadowmend crits to be able to heal an absorb in Magisters, but without the proc, critting for a 50k Flash just isn’t cutting it.

Chain Heal is a similar story for AoE throughput. It’s just always good and moves health bars. Other healers are playing around 20-30s CD’s, procs and conditional amps to do less healing than any Rsham who just presses CH.

There certainly was a time recently that Rsham buttons felt anemic but after several significant buffs, I think Rsham has a good foundation of constant throughput from HST, HR, ES, and Riptide, good on-demand throughput from casting HW and CH and good CD amps through UL, Ascendance, STT and NS.

It’s interesting how I read other healers complain about specific issues, like Discs not having good spot healing without Shadowmend procs or Pres Evokers struggling without time to setup on certain boss fights or Hpriests being so immobile and proc reliant but Rshams only complain generally, as if people are just parroting what they heard 3 months ago.

I encourage everyone complaining about Rsham to go heal the absorb debuffs in MGT on every healer a few times, heal through Vordaza’s convergence a few times at a high enough key level where the shield isn’t broken instantly, or keep the group alive on L’ura while moving constantly and then see how you feel about Rsham compared to other specs.

i think totemic need to have what farseer has, which is able to have 2 storm totems faster.

why on earth does farseer gain more totems than a spec that deals with totems? the ancestral switness is op for them 30 seconds a guaranteed totem…while we get one from nature on totemic every minute …what?

this is prolly why theyre better. please look into this tbh. that’s a big disparity. imo i think that needs to be removed from farseer

I can’t speak for PvE, but it’s the worst PvP healer by far rn

Seems okay for randoms and epics, did 10m random bg healing level 82, but is hard to stay alive when focused in arena compared to other healers.

Yeah, rsham is the squishiest healer by far.

Your instant casts just don’t do enough healing. You NEED to be able to cast healing wave, and that just gets kicked.

I would like to see minimum stone bulwark totem come back, but even then that won’t save us in pvp

How it ‘feels’ is important, but we should first recognize that as of today:

  • Top 100’s -
    2s: 44 healers - 0 Rshams
    3s: 30 healers - 1 Rshams
    SS: 14 healers - 0 Rshams
    Blitz: 27 healers - 1 Rshams
    RBG: 30 healers - 0 Rshams

Rsham currently makes up 1.4% of the healers in top 100 across all rated content. This is not balanced.

As for how it feels, yeah, its bad.

Throughput is terrible. I’m using all my abilities on CD and people are just slowly dying. I can almost never top someone off ever.

Survivability is horrible. Weak CDs, no usable defensives in CC, 1 mediocre defensive (in comparison to other healers)

Mobility is basically nothing. 1 snare break on a long CD + no immunity. Ghost wolf is just normal move spd, bc you will always be slowed against dps that all have mobility + you lsoe the ability to heal.

Control basically looks like earth grab and wind shear (which is now a 30s CD with one of the shortest lockouts in pvp) everything else is easily countered or costs too much survivability to even take.

Oh, and btw, literally every control ability that Rsham has, costs atleast 1 talent point, sometimes 2.

I’ve seen so many people try to downplay how bad it is, but the numbers dont lie. The facts dont lie. Someone can argue all day about how it ‘feels’, but Rsham right now is objectively bad.

TBH, and his is coming froma 19 year + main toon shaman, the pruning completely devastated all 3 specs. Ele to a lesser degree it kept some of its identity.

Restoration has lost it’s entire identity, especially without Cloud Burst to control that release. Thunderstorm was intergral in M+. especially when saving a pesky DPS who pulls aggro. Diving into a stack of mobs to stun them in place.

Cap totem is still there but doesnt feel good.

The increased CD on windshear feels more punitive/spitefull that actually balancing anything.

If anything, all I want is my Thunderstorm back as a healer so I don’t feel like a passive healbot following a tank around.

Im dead serious, the excitement is gone, I have dozed of mid pulls lately, all you do is stand there and span the same 4 buttons.

I have played shaman because it was one of the classes that needed more skill cap and brain power to play.

Ele is so brainless right now…. I could map it to the two paddles of an xbox controller and no one will know.

no one takes unleash as totemic until you have 4-piece. you are literally playing the spec wrong and then complaining that the spec is bad?

To be fair to you, I made it this far before confirming you were a troll. 8/10, you got us bro.

If you think one talent point is the reason why a spec or someone can be bad, you may be the troll lol

231 ilvl with 0 raid progression and 0 mythic+ progression and only 2-piece tier set. How exactly are you qualified to talk about resto shaman? I don’t pretend to know a damn thing about PVP, but you’re trying to tell me that “one spell” making or breaking a spec, when the spell is integral to farseer and literally not even taken as totemic until you have 4-piece–at least in PVE. But also, no one plays totemic in PVE unless they want a zug zug easy mode healer for keys. But back to your “one spell” comment: after the pruning, rsham doesn’t have that many spells to choose from anymore, so yes this one single spell in particular makes a huge difference, especially with how unleash works with farseer talents AND with the 4-set bonus.
