Which ever is the most irritating boss fight in said instance.
Usually i lust if theres a gigantic pull at the start of a dungeon, examples would be start of freehold, or halls of atonement. If there’s nothing like that i wait until first boss and then lust as it comes off cd or if the next boss is significantly harder than the one it comes off cd before.
Knowing when to Lust should be considered another dungeon mechanic that you have to learn. And just like any other-- it’s ok to ask to learn quicker. 
But every situation is different. First boss? But what PHASE?? Sometimes that matters. In some dungeons, you might collect 3-4 trash packs instead of 1-2 … and lust on TRASH!!! Yes, in higher Keys this is a thing!
I’m sure in the many YT vids for walkthrus you can get tips on when to Lust. But the bottom line is: if it’s a “real” Key (15+), it’s something you should discuss. Just a quick “Lust on first boss?” starts the conversation and you can go from there.
But never assume it’s as simple as “Lust on first boss.” That’s almost always wrong. 
Lust on 1st boss or a big early pull. Or just watch when other people lust or ask before the run. Just a “hay, when you want lust”

Where are you guys getting your M+ guides? I can’t seem to find any that say when to lust in the usual places like WoWhead and such.

For an example of a much deeper dive: Growl is great, you’ll recognize the cat with a waffle on his head at “yumytv.” I’ve been watching a lot from Quazii lately, he does an AMAZING job at detailing high keys, with A LOT of info, in a SHORT time frame. He’s putting out GREAT content.
And then there are HARDCORE channels I’ve watched. From people that just mumble their way through what they’re doing, almost as if they don’t want you to know. There is often good information if you’re willing to put in the work, but it’s annoying to deal with people like that. Especially when there are Growl’s and Quazii’s in the world.
But just go to YT and type a dungeon name + “walkthru”, like “Shadowmoon walkthru.” You’ll get 20+ hits and from there, you can start watching and getting a feel for who you like.
After than, when you do your next search for “Ruby Life Pools walkthru” … you’ll see that same person you liked before and now you know where to start.
From there, you might find the general walkthru is ok, but you still struggle with a specific boss. So now you just type that boss name in YT and … boom … you’ll see content JUST FOR THAT BOSS.
The BEST way to learn, is with 4 other people who are willing to wipe for an hour, and have a beer and LAUGH ABOUT IT the whole time… AND HAVE FUN. This is a unicorn situation, though. But IT IS THE BEST and you will learn the most!!!

I like to show a little ankle at the start of each dungeon.
You just know it 
I know when to lust when somebody has called for lust multiple times and I suddenly realize I’m the only person with lust.
If it’s not my key, I ask at the beginning when they want it. If no one replies, then I use my best judgment and that is the following:
If it’s Tyrannical, then use it on bosses. Whatever gets you the most uses in the dungeon. In azure vault for instance, I can usually get 1st boss, 2nd boss, last boss.
If it’s Fortified, then I use it on the biggest (or hardest) early trash pack, maybe a hard boss if it’s a high key. However if the tank is pulling big then I space it out to get as many uses on trash packs as possible.

First and last bosses of a short key is a safe bet. Lust at the start of every VOTI boss. Bail if the RL says they’ll need the lust for a shield break on Rasz.
During M+ runs: I usually lust right when the key is put in, then again after the 2nd boss goes down, then just after the last mob of the last trash pack goes down.
For Raiding: I usually lust while waiting for the tanks to pull trash, and also when the group is waiting for the boss to be pulled.
When not trolling, it usually depends on the instance. For M+ runs, I usually pop lust on the first pull of the dungeon. Depending on the length of the run, it is back up by the time we hit the 3rd boss, or the final boss.
For raiding, you can usually get away with using it on trash, then pull the boss and reset the exhaustion. So I almost always use it on trash, then at the start of every boss fight. Some boss fights (like Raz) are long enough to use it twice. For those fights, the start of the final phase is usually when lust is used for the second time.
When in doubt though, just ask your group when it wants lust. If nobody answers, use your best judgment.

worst case scenario wait for ppl to ask for it. if they forget to ask for it and whine about it then you know that was a spot for it lol
when i was on my mage i jsut googled it until i found someone that had a neat tl;dr for all dungeons on reddit.
Personally, I just check in with Wowhead.
If I’m in a dungeon, usually on the first or last boss if I think of it. Dungeons kind of put my brain in auto pilot mode, so that’s hit or miss.
If I’m in a raid, I will wait for someone to call for it, otherwise I could get yelled at for using it too early. 
people telling you always 1st boss are wrong.
on fortified its almost always a safe bet to lust 1st pull
altho tbf if your group isnt telling u when to lust take it as a sign to use it whenever you want

Lusting on first boss isn’t 100% correct, but it’s a decent enough rule of thumb as it’s pretty rare that lusting on a boss wastes value.
And realistically, if you’re at a key level where lusting matters you should hammer that out before the key actually starts.
