I Guess This Is Now Underpin Double Question Mark Overall Discussion Gigasalty Lounge I Dunno

I’m at 650 ILvl now, I have a maxed out Hero Ranged weapon, I have Brann at level 66 but he may as well be level 1 because he just dies. 30 seconds, a minute, two minutes, he dies. All the time. Which means I die because I’m not going to survive Underpin smacking my rear end as I try to kick bombs across the entire battlefield.

I can rez him once, with Turtle, but even that’s not a guarantee because Underpin can knock you back THROUGH turtle.

I’d love to stay in the center but it still doesn’t matter because Brann dies. He stands in every AoE. He starts the fight sitting in Crush every. Single. Time. Hell, Underpin pulls when I USE HUNTER’S MARK. WHY?

This isn’t like Zekky ?? where every time I ate dirt it’s my fault. I can improve. Your Brann and the absolutely bizarre decision to have him take full damage from AoEs, cannot. I’m at the mercy of a complete idiot of a dwarf and I am actually furious about it.

My gear level doesn’t matter, my curios, nothing. Brann sucks and I have no idea how to keep him alive.

Sorry, I’m rambling a bit but I’m already hitting 20 attempts and most of them end in 30 seconds due to no fault of my own. That’s a problem. Help.

(PS: Super cool bonus points for not having CDs reset so I have to wait a cool 2-10 minutes between pulls if I pop Harrier’s Cry and Trueshot in between attempts instead of just being able to try again, or defensives and potions.)

Well. That was a good roughly 50 attempts, all of them ended mostly the same way. Had one shot where Brann somehow avoided dying but all the adds spawned outside the arena.

This is just…bad. This is a bad fight. I shouldn’t have to 100% rely on luck to hope Brann puts his two brain cells together to move a bit to the left.

Zekky was a good fight because yes, the egg can spawn in a bad place and his abilities can overlap in bad ways but it’s ultimately on you. You can even survive without Brann once you hit the second phase because he’s no longer autoattacking.

Every time I attempted Zekky ??, I improved bit by bit, every future attempt I whittled him down a bit more until I was victorious. I did it at around Ilvl 614 or something.

Underpin ?? at 650? Feels like a slot machine. Fits the theme of the patch but sure isn’t fun gameplay wise. I have no idea if the adds in bleacher thing even is a bug or a feature but it’s not like it matters. Brann dies, I can’t resurrect him without Turtle and he dies again anyway.

I’ve learned nothing from the first attempt onwards. The AoE vomit obscures potions because red on red is real cool. The adds can spawn anywhere in the way-too-huge arena to the point kicking flat out becomes impractical with him launching AoEs your direction in addition to the projectiles from the adds.

I want to feel like I’m the one at fault. I want to be like, “Yeah, I suck at the video game. I’m going to keep trying until I don’t.” I got that with Zekky, I’m not getting that with Underpin. I’m beating the DPS check. I’m dodging all the stuffs to the best of my ability. I just eventually get overwhelmed or die to autoattacks, or die to a flamethrower because the whole kicking thing is so, so finnicky.

I think the most tilting thing is Brann getting sassy with me on respawn. “Let’s try some harder hitting moves!” “I know you can do better than that!”

I actually turned voices completely off because of him. I never turn voices off. I think VAs should be appreciated, but no. Nope. Not getting sassed at by the stupidest AI I’ve seen since Resident Evil 5.

I guess I’ll try again later. I can squeeze more ilvls out, I can get Brann to a higher level but I don’t see how any of it matters. He’s eating AoEs that are meant to one shot players for breakfast. He’s going to die regardless the way things are now.

Real disappointed. This was the one thing in Delves I was looking forward to the most because Zekky was a real good fight. I’m not burning tens of thousands of gold in potions, buff food and flasks for Brann to keep munching dirt.

Dont even try this Blizz didnt fix the fight in today’s reset so we hope they do something in tomorrow’s maintenance.
People who already killed it in ?? couldnt even loot the mount skin and Blizz did nothing.
It is frustrating. I know.

The bm hunter experience:
Do not summon pet it will die on pull so you have to waste a global on opener to make sure you have threat first.
Do not cast hunters mark this will agro the boss.
Initiate pull with barbed shot.
burn global on hunters mark because of bug
burn global on summoning pet because blizzard made it so that pets get one shot by the solo delve boss.
start opener.
revive pet anyway because it gets agro during this step 33% of the time.
Stay out of melee range because it takes 3 melee hits to kill a hunter.
try to get potions but brann is in charge of this.
try to stay near a bomb to quickly remove adds but the bombs are rng, the targeting of avoidable mechanics is rng, and the adds spawning locations are rng so honestly its more of a lucky charm thing.
Adds spawn health drops to 50% due to their sheer aura.
Delete adds with insanely fast bomb kicking speed.
Still almost die.
Maybe make boss hit 80% health before 2nd wave of adds.

  1. Adds spawn and there are no bombs because the boss summoned the adds after the shield
  2. Break the shield while playing a bullet hell game and also kicking bombs at the adds while doing a dps check.
    Repeat until the adds inevitably spawn in several quadrents of the room and you are no longer able to live through just kiting due to add damage.
    Reset the dungeon because the next pull will have untargetable adds.
    Cooldowns won’t reset.
    Rage and repeat.

It’s honestly heavily dependent on class/spec.

I’ve killed him for the third time today (I don’t know what’s wrong with me doing it not once, not twice, but thrice) with Mistweaver monk.

  • Mechasaur curio is a must, the other curio isn’t that big of a deal but I use the Imprint one, whatever the name of it.
  • Adds spawns relative to where the boss is and cannot spawn in the same spot twice so you want to drag him along the edge of the arena to avoid them spawning in the bleachers. This carries on between wipes so you want to reset instance every time you wipe.
  • He takes double damage during shield and the shield is 10% of his health. He uses his shield when these two conditions are met without fault: He’s under 80% health, he has 100 energy. So plan your damage accordingly. Failing to break the shield is an almost guaranteed loss as you will run out of room for adds.
  • You want to bring him under 80% before 2nd wave of adds, doing so will line up his shield to happen right before the next set of add everytime and make the fight that much easier to handle by giving you the time to deal with the adds before a shield.

As for brann… Tank Brann is useless. DPS Brann is less likely to die than Healer Brann for some reasons but still needs some heals on him to keep alive. If you’re a DPS spec, good luck, Brann is gonna be dead 24/7.

Thanks for the tips. I dunno, I’ll sort something out. I have no idea how I’m going to survive while he’s just punching me. It’s the same problem I had during Zekky ?? except the whole fight. If I could I may be able to do it.

I’ll sort it out. I’m gonna try gearing up a bit more.

To be 100% honest. I tried doing it with my hunter, warrior and Shaman first but ended up just leveling the monk to do it, much easier due to Mistweaver being able to sustain itself and Brann while also being able to dish out more damage than any other healer.

No idea, he was going down a lot on my Tank Brann before his nerf.

This battle is screwed up when ADDs all spawn at watcher seats and shooting lava balls without any lines.

It is, but it can be controlled. I mentioned it in the other post but the adds spawns relative to the boss position and they cannot spawn in the same spot twice, those spots carry on between wipes so you need to reset the instance after you wipe.

The trick is to drag boss along the edge of the arena to control the spawns and you can do this about 7 or 8 times before there’s too few spots left and they start spawning in the bleachers, at which point it’s basically a soft enrage and you need to finish the boss asap.

Zek ?? i did in impressive 4 trys, was such a better design fight compared to this rng bs. You need to reset the fight because the adds start to not align anymore, and oh god he hits like a truck. Bran is completely useless as always.
Instead of nerfing him blizz should fix him and this bs fight.

You waste more timing running in the arena to kick the bombs on adds than killing the boss, such a uterlly hot garbage design

Idk why I am still smashing my head into this, even with bugs. I can’t kick the bombs far enough away, the robots spawn all over the map in random spots not even near bombs, I don’t have bombs close enough to kick, Brann dies if he gets hit one time even if I am healing, cant be far away from underpin because of his aoe and not having enough movement speed to run out or even out-range it.

Robots should die with one bomb hit.
Robots should spawn less frequently so I can actually dps something.
Orbs should be like half the speed
Brann is just a joke atm and is completely useless and is unconscious the entire time.
Robots spawn outside the arena.
90% of the curios are useless on the fight

Did they test this before adding it? o.O

It’s like… it is how it is. Regular Delves is so easy as Hunter even a Tier 11 but Underpin would be a Nightmare.

But other classes, Regular Delves Tier 11 is nightmare but Underpin seems a joke.

You cant have everything in your favor.

…Okay? This isn’t about me or my class, this is about the core mechanic of solo Delves being useless the entire fight, because he’s dead.

I tried the stay along the wall strat mentioned and seen improvements, but that doesn’t really solve the problem of ‘dying to autoattacks you can’t prevent’. Adds dead, not eating AoEs, get punched in the face five times. SotF goes so far, and Exhil isn’t off cooldown nearly fast enough to make up for my only real source of healing just being a nonfactor.

If that’s intentional design, I’m sorry, but that’s realllll silly.

I killed it on hunter, but this fight is unfinished, unpolished, and not very well thought out as a one size fits all fight. Just on the basic issues either brann should have pet style aoe damage reduction so he doesn’t die at random outside your control or you could just not have the boss doing 2.7 million damage per auto attack while also having the adds doing unavoidable targeted damage just by existing, this is a pick one thing either make brann negligible or don’t have brann dying as a mechanic.

The adds are coded to not spawn in the same location ever, this is obviously bugged because it persists between fights forcing players to reset the delve after having any semi successful pull. Its likely even a bug in actual practice because the adds have a corpse mechanic where their burning wreckage will hurt you for standing on them, but those corpses eventually despawn. Despite this new adds will not land on the empty space that the despawned adds leave behind and will even split the 5 stack to several quadrents or even the stands if you are positioned badly.

The line shot lines don’t go away for about 1.5 seconds after the orb goes out… Its like the worst instance of the new graphical ground effect update because it actually makes it feel like there are way more threats then there are, because the line won’t go away. The lines are also shorter then the arena even though the orbs don’t have a range limitation so if you have one bot on the opposite side of the arena(you can actually get hit by bots that aren’t even graphically visible btw) the line shot will taper off but the orb will keep going.

Despite being used on a lot of mechanics, the visual update that stupid flame thrower move does not have it and it should. Also having this fight be spell queueing is the worst thing ever to begin with because it gets very messy past 80% when you get that first shield and determine whether spell queueing will just ruin you or not since the shield can now just deny you bombs to kill adds and once you break the shield he drops adds and immediately has flamethrower off cd so he can zone you off the bombs as if the adds weren’t already doing that.

COOLDOWNS SHOULD RESET WHEN THE BOSS DOES, THIS WORKS ON SO MANY THINGS HOW DOES IT NOT WORK HERE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Underpin ?? should drop the mount when killed because despite everything that makes it a messy unfinished rng mess of a fight it is still killable if you have infinite mobility or survivability. I was planning to play mostly mm this patch but it took about 8 pulls to realize this fight is bm or bust. You just can’t maintain a mm rotation while not getting meleed and kicking footbombs.

Have people tried it again now that brann takes heavily reduced aoe damage?

So you want the hardest challenge in delves to just fall over because you don’t understand how the fight works?

The current difficulty is fine, the only problem are the bugs.
Even the adds being in the bleachers is fine if they could fix their lines not showing and the spawn points in the arena not resetting after a wipe.
