How do you bring Sylvanas back, hypothetically?

Very easily honestly.

Using Midnight as the potential point because it does involve Quel’thalas, something is going on in there and we need the aid of a previous Ranger General, and we can’t use Alleria because she’s all voidy and that just makes things worse.

So someone from the Horde Council, likely Voss or Calia, reminds everyone there is still one more who is technically alive, and the Player is tasked to return to the Shadowlands and get permission from the Arbiter and the powers at be in the Shadowlands to go into the Maw and get Sylvanas for this job. We promise to keep her on a short leash and send her back when her task is done.

We go into the Maw and find Sylvanas who is refusing to leave because she found Nathanos and won’t leave him there a moment longer. To get her to come with us, we help her free Nathanos soul and get him to Oribos where he decides he’ll keep fishing souls out the Maw while Sylvanas is in Azeroth doing Midnight stuff.

After Midnight stuff is done and Quel’thalas is no longer in any immediate danger, Sylvanas goes back to the Shadowlands. She may get a moment with the Horde leaders for an apology or something, and maybe even a message sent to Tyrande if she’s feeling extra repentant, but she returns to the Maw to continue fishing souls out.

Basically we’re given a reason to bring her along, she does some things, then goes away again.

I don’t like the idea of her finishing in any short amount of time, nor do I like the idea of her leaving even for a little bit when she has a universe of souls to find, thus why Nathanos gets found and starts aiding the task (since he’s also responsible).

I acknowledge this is very similar to what was just done with Malfurion in Dragonflight but it’s really the only way to get her in, have her do stuff, then back out, while also acknowledging that she done the bad.

Feel free to add optional dialogue where you can spit on her and stuff, if you must give players a “eff you Sylvanas” option before we mindlessly do what we’re told for 5 gold.

The next time she turns in her daily quest of saving 20 souls, have the quest giver offer a follow-up quest sending her back to Azeroth. She will have to travel to Azeroth to complete the quest. Nobody wants to abandon a quest! It feels bad on the statistics page…

Sure, if you ignore everything that came before and all the built up context (and also everything that came after). Keep living in your own personal fantasy land so you can simp for the zombie beach who of all the factions leaders is was and will always be the most worthy of being put down by a raid of players.

Alexandros Mograine was of the Scarlet Crusade, and he was the paladiniest paladin to ever paladin. I wear it with pride in SPITE of those who would sully the good name of that once proud order.

During Wrath it was rather up in the air whether or not Sylvie had anything to do with it. It wasn’t really till Cata when they changed up the new character intro’s that Blizz officially stated it was all Putress.

Would all depend. Is she still the Banshee Queen? Is she still undead/forsaken?

She got the other half of her soul back in SLs so Idk what her physical state is or what her mental/spiritual state is now.

Last I knew of Sylvanas, she went into the maw to retrieve NE souls but she was also looking for Nathanos who knew she wouldn’t let him down.

So for her to come back, I’d guess she would have had to figured out a way to get all the NE souls as well as finding Nathanos.
She’d bring him back with her. She’d also be different although I have no idea how she’d be different.
She wouldn’t be the banshee queen anymore. Not sure if she’d be undead either.
And Idk what state Nathanos would be in but he’d need a body so one would have to be given to him.

Maybe Sylvanas and Nathanos could have new bodies, Idk.

Then there’s the time she spent in the maw talking with Anduin. What’d they talk about?
What were they doing down there? What was Anduin looking for?

A lot of questions would have to be answered as well.

That’s as close as I could get to it, OP. Sorry, I’m not very good at the lore of this game. GL.

The same way WoW exists after Shadowlands.

You just sweep it under the rug.

This is most likely what Blizz will do.

They’ll bring her back just like how Ridley Scott decided to make another Gladiator movie.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich Queen - the quest for more money.

I think this is a good way to go. Probably the only way to go but Blizzard can’t forget about Nathanos so he has to come along for the ride, too.

You drop her into the game with no real build up or thought, have players write up the damage reports on the forums; and in the last patch after the McGuffin is found, or the big bad is defeated; a beam of light shines down on Sylvanas as she says.

“I have to go now. My planet needs me.”

Sylvanas flies off as she did at the end of the Mak’gora. A small subtitle appears a few moments later which reads:
'Sylvanas died (‘yes again’) on the way back to her home planet’.

This is followed up shortly by a quest turn in which causes a Goblin Lawyer to walk out with Gurthogg Bloodboil and inform the player that they have a sworn affidavit signed by the Argus Wake, Gnomish Resistance, People of Azeroth United, Shadow Council, Twilight’s Hammer, Cult of the Damned, and the Goblin Cartel Alliance; that Sylvanas will never ever be reanimated or brought back into the story again.

The only true answer.

If I had to bring her back, it would be to give you the chance to nourish your player housing garden with Banshee Queen-brand mulch.

I’d just say that because time passes differently in the Shadowlands compared to the living world, she’s completely cleaned out the Maw and was given permission to temporarily return to the living world to help save Quel’thalas from the Void.

During the events of Midnight, the cult of personality among the Forsaken is finally addressed completely and the ground work laid for the Forsaken to move on without her around. At the end of Midnight and going into TLT, she returns to the Shadowlands and the Forsaken continue to say - “Dark Lady watches over you.”

She will end up having knowledge that will determine the fate of surviving high/blood elves and/or The Forsaken. As such, emissaries (players) will be sent to the Maw to find her through a complete a series of quests and convince her to save the mortals.

At least that is how I think it will happen. Will probably be the opening quest chain for Midnight.

I’d try mouth-to-mouth.

she was once killed and brought back as the banshee queen.

do that again but this time not as a slave of the scourge.

isn’t Aleria her sister? this could fit a way to fight xalatah.

maybe sylvanas so wounded the world soul by the burning of teldrassil that the world soul captured her after her death as punishment.

maybe there is something about sylvanas’ power necessary to fight the void and the world soul agrees to release her to save azeroth.

I mean, how many times can Neo escape the matrix?

I would take ole Sylvy back only through reincarnation, she gets to be a sickeningly sweet pink haired gnome.

FWIW, rethinking of the Hunter hall questlines - there is a solid chance it involves Vereesa not just because she currently is not doing anything big, but also because her questline in the hunter hall is all about figuring out what happened to Alleria.

For better or worse, most of her storylines since Legion have been about her sisters. Arguably since Warlords with War Crimes.

that be too JRPG. Or wh40k, Noting not a bad thing if done right lol.

I mean she lost her patron’s powers and we already know what she can do as normal person type. She can power slide into frostmourne to die lol.

Sylvanas in power armour or cyborg sylvanas…could work.

I would bring her back only for loyalists as those are the people who want to see her again and evidently not anyone else.
