in Rift, the pvp consisted mostly of both factions forming loose lines and facing each other like in the musket war days. the two lines would push each other back until the objective is controlled by one team.
a BG example below. in WoW there’s no unfolding in lines, there’s clumping and being AOEd down and dying and dying and dying and dying. the amount of deaths in WoW is obscene compared to Rift.
Yes I get all of that, but when horde is retaking IB GY, it’s mostly just the melee that’s quickly dying and rezzing to rush back to the flag area.
There’s often mages/locks/hunters/healers that are a bit further back and survive at least 60-80 seconds or so.
I’ve been a part of the IB GY defense a lot, and while there are times where we rez more than 10, it’s would only slightly change the odds in favor of alliance compared to the status quo, not entirely fix the imbalance.
Thanks for the history lesson on well known stuff, but the point is that it was not done because of some fictional level of horde complaints.
Like this guy:
who takes it a step further as he bravely dons the tinfoil helm:
No, it is very much not impossible.
It is on the level of impossible as that guy who couldn’t figure out how to get into stonetalon.
Not with any meaningful frequency whatsoever. Why do you and others push this stuff, when most of us actually were there and know it was clearly not the case? Every time you and others try this garbage, it makes you less and less credible regarding anything else you post.
The subject is AV. I could give a rat’s rump about the other 2 BGs.
I think the people who actually enjoy PVP know who they are, and a lot of people just buy into the mentality around the idea, or enjoy malicious behavior.
There are way too many people who use PVP as a guise to hinder eachother’s PVE - and while the argument can be made that “that’s just PVP” I simply do not agree.
The problem was that Alliance premades were causing a bunch of extra AV games to be created by repeatedly queuing up at the same time. This resulted in Alliance pugs starting their games with only 10-15 people while the Horde had a full team. It was a huge problem that needed to be fixed. I don’t know why so many people pretend that this problem never existed when they make these cry threads.
Read the thread this has been touched upon three-four times. That bug was fixed, Blizz still went the extra mile after that to shut down alliance premading presumably due to the constant barrage of forum complaints.
@Drain I think the argument Alliance makes is that if Horde has the map advantage on AV we needed our own advantage to overcome it, and in our case it was co-ordination. Evidently when we’re allowed to talk and weed the AFK/Leeches out of our AV’s we win 95% and the horde just couldn’t handle that so here we are with 4 hour ques and a soon to be dead BG.
The key word being “if”. Harping on individual aspects of the BG does not amount to overall map advantage.
Yes, the cave respawn system needs to make more sense.
No, the overall BG is not slanted to one side, merely because one side cannot change their tactics to overcome one part of it.
Aaaaaand right back to trying to blame horde.
I truly feel bad for alliance players who have people spouting this idiocy over and over and over.
So you’re denying that Horde flooded the forums until AV premading was killed with complaint threads about how it was so unfair because of their Que times? I mean its reality, it happened. I’m not going to say that is the sole issue Alliance has, but its a fact that its something Blizz got directly involved with to stop. It’d just be nice to see both sides of the aisle have their complaints addressed, obviously Blizz realizes the Horde cave location is BS as its changed, so just change it now and if its really just a player issue let us deal with it once the maps been evened out.
Lots of people on PVE realms play PVP, sometimes i think we even have better WPVP (depending on the realm of course)
One day we turned stromgarde into an impromptu PVP battleground, a little bit to the annoyance of questers but…
And then later, we can wish each other luck when we are lining up to enter bwl.
You know that image isn’t accurate to the current setup right? The Horde entrance isn’t at the south of the zone currently its on the East wall in parallel with Frostwolf GY.
This is why there really aren’t any true PVE servers. As long as you can kill quest givers, quest mobs, and own farming areas it’s really a once-removed PVP server.
At least on a true PVP server you have the possibility of fighting the person denying you use of the area. On a PVE server all they have to do is avoid flagging and there’s not a thing you can do to them.
