How Do We Keep Ending Up At Raid or Die?

Hahah lfr players can’t even handle hide behind a pillar on shriekwing

This is one of the reasons WoW is continuing to slowly die. There is no outside of the box thought for this game and character progression opportunities. Too much time is spent creating and implementing time gated systems.

Weekly loot crate or buy tokens or die.

Why does a hardcore “pro” fear gear competition from a “WQ Andy”?

Anything to protect a silly little ego.

This is basically it. I don’t enjoy mythic plus, and it got to the point where I felt like a liability in the raid because of my lack of willingness to pursue that means of augmenting my gear. Not fun.

Raiding is the most successful feature of the game and the primary thing it does better than any other MMOs on the market.

So… why not?

The domination shards are a bit over the top. I understand they are trying to give raid gear it’s own “upgrade” system as they apparently can’t do a copy and paste of the PvP/Mythic+ style of upgrading. But this just seems too forced, they should have added raid only armor sets like we use to have (but I would rather the effects by more like how AZ armor worked then the old tier armor sets).

Ah the good old conservative pull em up by your bootstrap theory.

No one wants to work because the GOVERNMENT is giving them free money and OBAMA phones.

I really miss the class specific armor sets with tier bonuses. I guess this way they don’t have to take the time to develop 12 highly detailed armor sets though. Shame really.

I have mixed feelings about them. I would like to see teir sets come back but not in the same fashion as we had in the past. I would rather they blend it with how the AZ traits worked. This way you can customize your armor bonuses to support the build you want to play instead of it dictating the build you should be playing.

I don’t understand the hate toward M+. It is not like raiding is becoming more popular over time. Actually M+ may allow more people to dip their toes into raiding sooner or later.

Eg. People start doing rated BGS and then they progress to rated arenas. You are not going to see people saying RBGs kill rated arena and vice versa. Only PVE you see this schism. PVE players stop hating each other. Collaborate and give each other a hug.

This is kind of the point here. You won’t be shifting the opinions of the White Knights here because WoW is perfectly designed. Or whatever complaints they do have are complaints that only affect maybe less than 3% of the game population.

I’m glad to see FF14 to be getting all this talk and I’m glad casual players are realizing that you don’t have to run Ion’s sweaty shop of hardcore content in order to enjoy a MMO. It’s refreshing that there’s developers out there that realize that the hardcore M+ and Raiders aren’t people who you should base your game on.

This is incorrect. The only people who feel this way are the other Mythic raiders. Often she’s chiding people by calling them lazy.

Is that why many Raiders ran RBGs for gear, and farm M+ for BiS trinkets, such as ruby, inscrutable, and unbound?

Because having a gear upgrade path gives them a carrot to chase. Shadowlands feels like all stick and no carrot. You’re only rewarded for doing the highest end content, and even there the rewards are sparse. It’s not exactly what many would consider fun.

These devs can’t create a world. They’re good at creating instanced content but that’s about it. As a result, if you’re not interested in 100% instanced content at end game you don’t matter.

Ill be honest here. It does feel like the raids get a majority of attention. They even added LFR so that everyone can pretend to be a part of it.

What raids lack now is really badass loot to chase, im only there for maybe some mogs, a pet, and a chance for mount. Compare that to wows past when everyone showed up hoping to get their BIS gear, and it was all famous loot that everyone in game respected, you could do a raid then go chill in city and have people whisper you because they see you got the item.

Also raids are so incredibly sweaty that you need to spend a fair bit of time researching the mechanics, its just less accessible.

I sort of miss those times when everyone would show up for the raid the leader would explain it, and then we would do it, i feel now you need more research and the mechanics are so convoluted…i do get the appeal for the top 0.5% of people to master such a complicated instance.

Raids are nothing like they use to be, its an esport now and not nearly as fun or rewarding.

Idk. Pvp gearing was solid for the first month. For the first 3 months, rated bgs was a solid gearing path. I would argue pvp gear system was the go to this patch.

Right.

It would be more accurate to describe SL’s design as “sweat or die” rather than “raid or die”, because if you aren’t doing sweaty content, you’re basically SOL.

Mythic + was a mistake.
