How do we feel about “locked in” PvP talents?

Great thread man, love the topic.

Could not agree more, having tried both Holy and Disc priest, 2 out of 3 of the selected PvP talents are mandatory with the 3rd being flex.

How good to have those baked into abilities, for example the one that immunes CC’s when you fade.

I absolutely love Burrow and wish it was baked into the normal Shaman kit for avoiding damage in dungeons/raids.

For 4 seasons you had 3 locked in PvP talents as Holy, that sucked.

Wouldn’t work for Phase Shift, that would break PvE.

Be glad that you only have one mandatory pvp talent. Many other classes like warr, evoker and warlock have 2/3 dead locked.

This a new thing? I swear I haven’t seen a voidweaver win a 3s/shuffle. As soon as I see that swirl coming from a disc I know it’s GG.

Oh sorry that’s just for me. Don’t even know if anyone is man enough like the gyatt.

I mean my buddy makes it work sometimes when we’re messing around in 3s, but it’s still the worse tree I feel. Maybe the atonement buff makes it more viable than in the past.

Well done, then. I played VW Disc to 2100 before throwing in the towel, but didn’t take fade pvp talent over instant radiance. Do you even play radiance at all for when you’re kicked or just not take it? I could see fade being mandatory though; I played trinity, 10% spell power and atonement and instant radiance.

VW is loads of fun, but just felt like you couldn’t recover from a long cc chain, which started happening a lot more frequently 2k+.

No I don’t take radiance at all

You just run inner light/fade/trinity

Like not even have the spell itself talented in your trees? (Not just opting out of the PvP talent but the entire spell itself)

it’s terrible and i wish blizz would bring back pvp talents akin to what we had in legion, but perhaps not as many.

it just felt nicer. having 8+ talent choices, but only 3 slots is horrible feeling. there’s a lot of fun talents you simply won’t get to play due to what you’re required.

Yes, absolutely should be baked into the talent tree.

I’d kill for Burrow to be a normal talent choice or baked into the class, and not a pvp talent. That ability has saved me a ton of times and I can’t imagine playing without it now.

I’d prefer them to do Conflict and Strife again by giving your most important PvP talent as a guaranteed 4th slot in PvP combat and War Mode.

We had a lot less buttons and talents in general back in Legion when we had 6 rows for PvP talents, doing the grid system again would create an unbelievably large power spike for some specs and leave others behind.
I could definitely see my Holy Priest becoming way more powerful than my Feral Druid.

I’d love to be able to use Arcanosphere again.

Soul rip is fine and can suprisingly kill double melee. Other two needs to be removed and replaced by something better. Obvilion needs to be integrated into drain soul.

I miss the hell out of this. The first two rows were shared role talents anyway so those could prob be removed

Also would be fine with this

it needs to be an empowered spell like evoker abilities at this point

Yes, not talented at all.

I also don’t take the 2% DR atonement talent (Lenience – which is pretty troll but it’s actually the least important numerically)

The only flexible Talent points are in pain and suffering but it yields the most throughput if you’re playing optimally, not to mention the nodes it’s competing against are pretty awful. It’s absolutely mandatory vs anything with a pet/summons.

It is a lot harder to pilot overall compared to oracle but I personally think it’s stronger.
I did make a custom weakaura to notify me if my shadow word:pain falls off or is dispelled for my target of target (that still doesn’t work 100% of the time) but it’s been very valuable. (Also a separate keybind to apply it directly when I’m targeting party1 or 2)

I feel like some of these talents are quite frankly just quality of life updates that should be implemented.

It doesn’t stop Blizzy from adjusting the numbers if things get out of what, but if it adds to making the classes more fun - then why not?

Although on second thoughts…Blizzard actually fixing anything is…probably never worth betting on.

Shaman seems to be fine. I use basically all of my talents except maybe counter strike.

They can’t bake grounding into the talent tree because of the way it interacts in PvE.

Voidweaver doesnt typically play it yeah, especially if you have haste. Unfortunately that spec can very easily go sideways if there’s a little too much CC or LOS going on on. I feel like not running radiance for oracle is maybe doable, but you can make plenty of weird decisions on core talents if you try hard enough. I don’t think it’s better to not play Ult radiance as oracle though. Like imo you’re losing more than you gain in most situations.

Would rather see them tweak our queueing options. Too many pvp players sitting in dorn and waiting for rss to pop.
