How do I smelt copper now ?
If you open up your professions tab (mine is hotkeyed to K, you might need to check your keybindings if you have a custom UI), open up “Mining skills” and it should be there if you have learned it from a classic mining trainer.
If you’ve learned copper bars but you can’t see it, you may have unlocked multiple eras of mining (eg, WOTLK, Draenor) and might be looking at the wrong era. There will be a drop down menu you can click inside the “mining skills” window with the expansion names. Set it to classic mining.

Yep, typically people learn both classic and cataclysm when they go to the trainer. You then auto default to the cataclysm skill. Just click at the top to change
