How come Classic gear is so much more interesting than BfA gear

Oh, sorry. 2AP from strength, 1AP from Agi. Still favoured the rare pieces of leather with Strength.

Armor in bfa isn’t as interesting as it is in classic.
If I were to put a shield on any shield wearing class the physical dps I take would be reduced by a lot more then in bfa. Bfa also prevents you from using any weapon type your class can use with melee abilities like crusader strike or so.

This is correct.

Rogues and shamans want strength…

Because they are no longer str/agi/int. All they are is a power stat that does the same thing to classes who no longer benefit from the other.
It isn’t iconic anymore. That is why.

The reason why they removed the complexity was because of the cata kids and wrath babies that rolled around

I think what was intriguing about gear initially was that upgrades were so rare. You held onto blue quest rewards forever. Once you hit 60 you started your quest for the best in slot and you were not replacing things all the time. I think that is what killed WoW for some people with BC was just tossing out things they worked really hard to earn for some trash drops in Outland that got replaced 10 minutes later. Pre-BC you were pleasantly surprised when you got a nice upgrade along the way. I remember some long quest chains that were so worth it for the reward.
