He literally mentored/advised other shaman, meaning all the lessons about asking the elements for their blessings would have come from him, or been shared by him throughout pre-horde Orc culture.

The first time we saw the elements being forced/subjugated was in Shadowmoon Valley by Gul’dan (but he was using fel magic to do that). Then we saw it again with the Dark Shaman who served Garrosh Hellscream.

Which is why his AU counterparts embrace of the void was hersey. We know that the void can be used to subjugate the elements. We even see that in AU Nagrand with the left over Dark Shaman from Garroshs ‘True Horde’ teach several Warsong clan shaman and with AU Cho’gall using the void to subjugate the Earth Fury, Gordawg.
