Seriously. You think if the Forsaken were going to get another model you’d think it’d be the Nathanos / Calia spooky human look.
Making them also Belves is just weird. I get the Forsaken are more canonically a loose collection of lost and damned undead, but the player race is very specifically undead humans.
And if we were going to get an allied race I’d take leper gnomes and vargul over Dark Rangers. Seriously the playerbase combined is like 30% elves as is. We really don’t need any more. Just give the NBorne some actually decent customization options and leave it at that forever.
Personally, I hate allied races - I just want them all to be sub-races.
Select Troll -> Zandalari, Darkspear, Amani
You get one shared “Troll” racial, and each has their own sub racials.
If San’layn is under “Elf” or “Blood Elf” or “Undead” - don’t care. Allied Races in general were a bit disappointing.
Eh. Enough of them are different enough that I think they warranted a separate race, if nothing else because of different class options. Suffice to say Darkspear and NBorne Paladins might be a bit weird.
But of the Horde ARs at least only the Zandalari and Vulpera felt like their own distinct thing, and of them only the Zandalari felt like an actual new nation joining the Horde.
LF Draenei and HM Tauren just seem hosed on class choices though, offering nothing their base races don’t. You could probably axe those.
Give the moose antlers and tattoos to all tauren along with Yaungol and Taunka options.
Agreed and that’s partly why I don’t like AR as they are. It’s pretty underwhelming (on both sides). I doubt Blizzard wants more “neutral” races, so for AR I would’ve preferred things like Ogres, Sauroks, etc (as examples). And to be honest, the only reason I feel like Zandalari are different is because we experience a nation (as you said) and very different class options (and posture). Beyond that the only really new race was Vulpera.
I hadn’t really thought about the class aspect. I suppose each sub race could have separate class restrictions but that would be a bit convoluted for players so that might not be a good idea.
So maybe my sub-race thing wouldn’t work so well, but I’m just really underwhelmed by the AR part.
Yes please
Let me a blizzard lizard wizard
Much like my personal desire for an Allied Race:
Naga’na happen.
I didn’t want playable sauroks but then you said blizzard lizard wizard and well now aw shucks
Can they be Priests? If so remind me to secure the name Velicopastor ahead of time.
Actually I’d prefer naga over saurok too, although drakonid over them all. Naga and drakonid would at least have a higher chance of having a mage option, too.
I’d be worried that, tail issues aside, that the horde having nightborne might torpedo them getting naga because of theme overlap, though.
Nah, Nightborne are purple and sparkly Arcane magics.
Naga are water/Frost with coral and seaweed on top.
Honestly, Kul Tirans aside, there really aren’t many races/classes that emphasize water
Tbh I still think some sort of bipedal nagas would’ve made more sense than the Worgen, especially if you’re going for beastmen the Nelves help out.
Going back to the unelves thing, one of the reasons I think the Worgen have been so often abandoned by the narrative is because they only work as a foil for the Forsaken in isolation. When Frankenstein and the Wolfman are fighting it looks cool. But the moment Abbot and Costello turn up it looks like the scary things should be on the same team.
Plus it’s always hilarious when the Worgen try to “You don’t belong in this world, monster” the undead. Well hello mr.pot, meet ms.kettle.
The Humans make the best foil for the Forsaken and vice versa. The Orcs VS Human thing just seems pretty unbalanced now that the Orcs also have a firm grasp on technology and the arcane, and also have plenty of their own friends to ring up.
Which would be even further confused by making most of them unbelves. I guess they could be a foil for the Velves, but as they’ve had a dark rebirth of their own we’re back to the worgen v Forsaken problem of two monsters arguing over who’s least unsettling.
Oh please, the blood elves have a much deeper connection with them thanks to Illidan.
Oh yeah, Genn Greymane remains one of the biggest hypocrites in the game.
When Nathanos calls you out on your BS, you know you’re doing it wrong.
