How can player housing be done well in Warcraft? Drop some thoughts

I think another thing to note is that an item placement limit might be a good idea. I think Wildstar did that as well so there wasn’t massive lag and it was more manageable. And resizing your items, too. Another thing I’m not sure I’ve mentioned but it’s a good tool to have. Creator tools in general for plots would be ideal.

They should consult with Emily Taylor, who was known as Domino in EQ2. She was the crafting/housing goddess. Now she’s over at BioWare.

For starters the art, we can gather music from past content but the art store in Dalaran goes completely unused?

If only they’d put so much of a forethought in the rest of the game.

Also, would love housing.

Blizzard don’t use these kind of words to describe their work.

Yes they are. Player housing presents all the same problems as Garrisons.

  1. There’s no good reason to visit other peoples Garrison.
  2. There’s no good reason people will visit your Garrison.
  3. Garrisons make the world feel empty / Isolated.
  4. There’s not enough real estate in the world for non-instanced housing.
  5. Garrisons don’t belong in an MMO.
  1. Because Garrisons were boring and everybody’s looked the same even if the buildings were placed differently.
  2. Please refer to #1
  3. It’s always been this way with or without Garrisons. People stayed in the major expansion hub or Org/SW.
  4. Housing should be instanced.
  5. Nope, but player housing does. If one doesn’t like player housing, they don’t have to use it.

I paid a sub at WildStar only for the housing. I really didn’t do much PvE/PvP content. I went out in the world to grind challenges or for rep to be able to buy decor off of Quartermasters which is really no different than doing WQ’s here.

I rarely log in now and eventually I’ll just cancel my sub as I have no interests in WoW anymore, but if they had WildStar’s housing, I’d sub just for that alone.

WoW would rake in a ton of cash if they had WildStar’s housing.

I’ve already given answers to your numbered list in previous posts here. Inform yourself before just formulating an opinion please. Also, refer to Nixxy. My brain is getting tired of trying to make people understand how dissimilar they both are. I know people aren’t reading through all these comments but the garrison argument has been hashed so many times it’s numbing. They’re two entirely different pieces of content.

Your inability to recognize they are completely similar is numbing.

inb4 incoherent post not addressing any point in a meaningful way.

I’m capable of understanding the differences and you aren’t. There’s been reasons given but you refuse to read. As I said, Inform yourself. Youre welcome to your opinion but you’re wrong… and now you’re just being childish as expected from someone who has their opinion compromised. If you want to argue go find another forum bud. “inb4 long post” nah fam. I don’t need a long post here.

I spent quite a few hours chilling on my friends plots just hanging out watching them build. Was always a good time and I hope WoW decides to pull the trigger one day. I know a lot of people want it to happen. I hope they aren’t thrown off by all the people thinking garrisons are housing xD

I wish the devs were more forthcoming with their projects. I’d love to know what they really meant when they said that. The actual development of it or just implementation. Would be nice to know what they view as being clumsy

But that game failed and is now six feet deep, not only due to end content: it was a whole…

Player housing does not work well in WoW because we are not sedentary: we move all the time. Will you go back to your house in Southern Barrens if you are fighting enemies in an elemental plane far away?

In order for player to go back to their garrison in WoD, they used it as an essential progression hub. Player housing can be attractive to a niche of player, no doubt, but is it a plus value for the game?

The game failed because it was managed very poorly, for one. For two, people were close-minded and didn’t even give it a chance and still managed to talk bad about it despite not having experienced the game play for themselves.

I can tell you didn’t play WildStar because if you did, you’d know you teleported to the skyplot and then left the skyplot via a teleporter which put you in the same place you were before going to your plot.

Yes, i didn’t play the skyplot plot teleport you are talking about.

It worked kinda like a hearthstone, except for when you left your plot. If you were standing in the middle of XR when you used it, and then stepped on the teleporter to leave, it’d put you back in the middle of XR, exactly where you were standing. And much like the hearthstone it also had a CD.

If it’s literally an instance like Garrisons, hard pass. Knowing this company that’s exactly what it will be and this community will some how enjoy it, lol.

The Garrison is a Mansion house thank you
