Well, when a hybrid race like Dracthyr exists, they were MADE to behave like mortals like us players we play as. That partly has something to do with it. Although, it still leaves a lot to understand why still entirely and how. Do the Dragonflight instruct them to learn about the mortal races? Go among them to find things to further help see Azeroth healing?

Deathwing? I thought it was stated they were created by his son Nelfarion. I don’t know when he was born and don’t know about his sanity.
I guess we will have to buy the Christie Golden books to find out the basic lore of the expansion.
Neltharion is pre corrupted deathwings name. He made them as an experiment trying to combine the powers of dragons with the scrappy adaptable nature of mortals to make super soldiers 10000 years ago.
Nefarian is his son who we fought in vanilla and cata who experimented and made the twilight flight under deathwings orders. Maloriak is similar to the dracthyr since he was a human nefarian infused with dragon essences and could have been inspired by the dracthyr in a retcon if they go that route.
Dragon names are too similar sometimes.
Its almost as if theyre not in game yet, and we dont know if there will be a questline or not!
^^^ OP, here is what I think they will do. Deathwing ran experiments to create this race of dragons, but then he died, and so they were left on their own, and there was one dragon guy who thought that they should have minds of their own and lead their own lives. So, they did and then we showed up and their leader told them that if they wanted to abandon their own society and go see the world, they could, but they had to choose between alliance or horde. If they didn’t chose one of those two factions, they’d have to stay on dragon island.

Just going from Blizzard’s history. I would love if they would tell all the story in the game but they never have. Blizzard always relies on novels and other books to actually tell the story.
Biggest question is how can dracthyr be horde considering what the horde did to Alexstrasza in grim batol.

They mentioned the explorers league and the reliquary in the interview.
My guess is while you quest through the dracthyr starter zone you’ll likely run into both research teams. At the end of the starter zone you’ll choose which of the two teams you want to help in the expedition farther into the dragon isle and that’ll be the gateway to the factions.
Im 80% sure they said your not officially joining the Horde or Alliance. Your just picking w/e sides exploration team to help out.
It is almost like factions don’t matter.
