I am really tired of retail. I’m not interested in in much anymore until 11.2. I played WoW back in the day at the very end of vanilla and became a regular player with TBC. I was wondering what the feelings of players are for the Anniversary realms? Are the fun? Are they buggy? What do you all think. Should I give them a try or just stop playing for a while?

not great . Too many layers so it doesn’t feel like classic and the economy is messed up.

Economy is a little wonky atm, but overall Anniversary is perfectly fine, pick a realm and off ya go.

Honestly the player base in classic is super toxic and a turn off. I recommend sod, it has a lot more qol and classes more developed than classic

They’re especially toxic in Anniversary. Megaservers make it far worse.
OP, I’d recommend Era. There’s people there who actually like the game. They help each other out. There’s a community. Moreso than Anniversary anyway.

I started in 2021ish and had fun. I am having fun now. There are always things to complain about but overall my experience has been positive. Try it out for a few days and if you’re not having a good time then take a break from the game.

It’s a nice way to replay classic from scratch in a relatively healthy economy and high population. But I’m personally not digging the megaserver approach they took. Much more fun to play on a medium realm where you stumble upon same people in the world as you level, join their guilds and just in general feel like you’re a part of some limited tangible continuum of players.
Personally I would play SoD coming from retail.
Classic wow is pretty trash, SoD is a solid place to go tbh

Its literally every player base, no matter the mode.
anniversary is fun but full of struggles.
most people buy gold in anniversary to dodge leveling / farming.
if you do not care and you’re only trying to enjoy your casual journey? then you will have fun but if you want to achieve things in game then you will be forced to buy gold so it will depend on how you wanna run through classic anniversary.
Razorgore died in 5 seconds last night… No joke. a 5 second kill on a BWL current raid tier boss.
In SoD… all 10 classes are on the “top DPS” for charts… SoD is incredibly balanced, and bosses live longer than literally 5 seconds.
Just a far better game and its not particularly close. I would put classic and classic era at the very bottom of what blizzard has available as a product rn.

Yes classic is easy. Why are you looking for difficult playing classic?
That’s cool for them, but there’s gonna be zero progression after so it’s experiencing a huge drop off.
In your opinion. It’s just cringe that you constantly just ego trip and shh on most people’s favorite iteration of the game here. Some people like a casual and laid back raiding experience, but a more arduous journey to max.
You’re free to like and dislike what you want, but going on every thread saying how “trash” a version is… in the forum for that version… Is extremely cringe and embarrassing. It’s like 12 year old level antics. I hate fortnite and think it’s awful but I would never go to the fortnite forums and call their game trash.

With no token, long leveling, AI- Auto Bans for gold buying and super expensive materials and consumes makes for a different and difficult grind. However… It’s very rewarding to get to the end and make progress. That makes you come back and drives the fun.
