If there wasn’t the part about lying, I’d say what you’re doing is awesome. Nothing wrong with saving up to take an extended vacation to do something you really want to do. But, yeah, I know it’s impossible for any of us to understand the nature and nuance of your relationship, but I don’t really see how your lying about the justification for your break from working isn’t a big deal. Don’t lie to your SO - surely if you have the budget to cover the time you’re unemployed, she’ll be okay with it if you explain everything properly?
