If you are advertising outside of the designated channel, then that’s the issue. Probably. I know if I see ads in places they shouldn’t be I will report them without hesitation, especially if it’s in Newcomer Chat. There’s a lot of guides at the ready aside from me, too. lol
If you advertise a service. It must be in the services channel and not trade chat. Also you yourself must take part of the boost. Blizz change their policy on the big boosting community to combat RMT.

I remember befor WoW playing asheron’s call. on my server people helped each other out constantly. nobody asked for pyreals which was the gold equivalent

Nothing, it’s just that due to the automated nature of the system it only takes a certain threshold of X false reports to trigger a ban or silence
One of my favorite streamers does M+ carries for free and even he has caught a few automated silences lol
I suspect lots of pugs are just weary of seeing “WTS” advertisements in general, so they have this sort of “knee jerk reaction” to hit the report button even if the advertisement is 100% legit (such as selling for gold)
Basically “all” WTS/carry advertisements get lumped under the illegal bots/RMT category by the WoW general public - people don’t take the time to read the ads and see that it’s for gold and they just report away with a false report
From what I remember is that it is ok for a guild or group to advertise in the service channel. However, the person doing the advertising MUST take part in the run. Blizz does not want boosting communities like Houkan was.
boosting communities are actually a bannable offense as of 2022.
Exactly how it should be played. It’s just a game, I got help when I was a noob, now I give it when I can. It’s how I met all the people I run with today, which is what I thought was the point of an MMO, community.
I’ve bought one aotc in my time, just couldn’t live without that silly moose. So I get the “new” game mode, I just don’t participate, it’s more exciting earning the prize.
So the advertising on trade got annoying, don’t do it, ever. You have your own channel now, Services, the buyers know where to go to find you. If business is drying up, maybe the community has figured out it’s more fun playing the game.
As an aside, how do people even use Services chat? I recently reset my UI and addons, and the moment I logged in I was bombared with Services being inundated with spam. Sure, addons like Badboy exist (even though when I tried to use it, it failed badly).

Yeah because using trade chat for crap like “anal” jokes and talking about Thunderfury is what I want to see in my chat instead.
I gave the advice/rules laid out for Trade Services channel. Not regular Trade Chat. Don’t like the stuff in Trade Chat? Report, ignore and give feedback to Blizz about it.
Trade chat is meant for items and professions. Trade Services is meant for services. Per rules set forth by Blizz.
If you have a problem with off topic chat in regular Trade Chat, bring it up with Blizz. That ain’t my fault. Calm down. lol
Trade chat has largely been used as a general chat since forever. Pretty sure it predated my own start date in mid Wrath by a country mile. You are right that it’s not the correct or intended usage, but people are gonna do what they want. Having said that, it’s used for trading a lot more heavily on some servers compared to others.

Yep. I started in cata 4.2, and the first day I played I saw all the anal jokes, politics etc. Its the entire reason why Services was made.
