They weren’t just re releasing 15 year old software unfortunately so you really cannot compare.
The idea of multiple servers is outdated, if you level on one of the new servers or lower pop, 3 months into the game release, the game will die and you will be forced to transfer. Saying this is a player created problem, and to level on a lower pop server is terrible game design, blizzard SHOULD know better. Layer the realms and be done with these queues, done with the low pop servers like it seems so obvious, I feel like im taking crazy pills here. Blue steel, latigra magnum, theyre all the same look!
Queue on Faerlina just dropped from 2k+ to <400 in about 2 minutes. Something is happening.
I know for a fact they use instance zones in Classic. I agree to meet up with my friend and was surprised that we were in different instances on the same server right next to each other standing in the same place and couldn’t see each other until we grouped up. They have the technology just to add more (instance) servers, they choose not to.

we’ve been here before. since Warhammer launched we’ve been here with EVERY new MMO launch. new World? same story. Classic? same story. Aion? you betcha. Wildstar? yesstar.
