We keep the signature ability bound to covenant choice. But the class ability is swapable with gold… NOT LIKE AZERITE POWER REFORGE PRICES.
I mean, we are the maw-walker. everyone loves our char in shadowlands , why are we suddenly mad as each other for picking one covenant over another when we have world quests that defend other covenants?
Well, this is in regards to covenant abilities locked behind choice. Some clear winners and loses so far as this point. Conduits however is another issue. Imho about this, a daily reset is prob more then enough if they really wanna prevent swapping, not the best solution, but better then a week wait. Druids lose in that one badly.
I still don’t get the Covenant choice from a story perspective.
All the covenants work together. You’re still doing world quest for all of them, you’re still grinding rep for all of them. Even their campaign stories have some cross over.
So the choice story wise is just who you wanna AFK with.
Whats even worse is, some of the abilities are great for leveling but not so much at endgame, so getting to see them all, and possibly working different at max level is a very real thing. Forcing this choice to not see how these work at max lvl isn’t a good call.
Yeah I can take that. It makes planning much better and less stressful if it’s one day. I said there should be a fee and a loss to regain because it’s a whole new covenant.
Like if switching covenants, everything you did for that one covenant is gone and you have to restart. However, pathfinder will still be there. Or just could just charge 500-5000 gold and renown system is the only thing gone.
I see them making it a contrived currency " Echoes of Nya’lotha " as a fix for swapping conduits at one point. Honestly. Blizz like that kind of stuff.
I still recall the first time I heard the term “hashtag.” It was at my fiance’s brother’s graduation ceremony. One of the speakers was like, “HASHTAG (insert some nonsense)!” I looked over at her and was like, “what the hell is a hashtag?”
Much to my dismay, I found out it’s the pound symbol.
As you can see from my post count, i don’t reply alot or even make topics on this forum. However i feel like more then ever this game needs a win in the form of Shadowlands. Most wont agree with the way messages are given in the form of the ripcord hashtag, i dont care much for it myself. But when the obvious fix is right in front of your face. Why not take it.
This is the first time ever player power is locked behind a major system/major choice that isnt easily switched. For some reason people think this was lost somewhere, I dont recall at any point even up unto vanilla i would be punished for picking something.
Take for instance if this was something you couldn’t change ( right now estimated 2 days to switch ). And the nerfs or buffs come in for something else. If lets say Icy viens, or Raidbots, or wowhead, or whatever 3rd party site you use to gather information says X is best. then you pick that. Nerfs or buffs come in ( its gonna happen alot before Castle Nathria comes out ) you wouldn’t feel quite as good as your choice never mattered to begin with cuz blizz can dictate the power of all these abilities. But you like say Night Fae, cuz of the theme of the covenant.
With removing the class skill ( at the very least) from permanent choice, it gives natural incentives to make alts to gain the cosmetics/mount from alts, feeling less punishing.
Alot of people have mentioned the min/maxing is a 1% issue. Most people wanna get info about their class and choice and dont wanna suck just for the sake of pressing whatever talent or choice. An informed decision comes from many sources to reach a final decision on what most people pick. Why is X better then Y. I dont intentionally choose to gimp myself if i cant help it. The very few that dont want to look into any info to play this game prob doesnt play much content that requires raids or M+, and there is nothing wrong with that. But at the very least these covenant abilities can be easy enough to swap between for even super casuals/social players without much issue. Having more options hurts no one.
The RPG argument cannot be had with the fact everyone in the shadowlands is working tword defeating the jailer anyway, so not knowing the " secret talents " from covenant factions at a one per basis has no grounds. We know the abilities from all factions but if we wanna swap a focus to one or the other, we shouldnt need to spend a contrived amount of time to swap between said knowledge.
I want shadowlands to be the best it can be, and locking talents behind a system that we would normally get new skills by default on a new xpac by just, " gaining levels " does not seem healthy for the game as a whole. Then being someone that has everything, but can make a choice of what to use when and where.
Not to mention you learn all 4 abilities during questing, so why you would magically forget how to use any of them makes zero sense.
The Kyrian skill for Hunters is outright useless in PvE. It’s entirely a PvP skill. (Lets you attack without regard to line of sight, in a targeted area) (which means it’s also borderline useless for survival, a melee spec).
So any hunter who goes Kyrian is already at a massive disadvantage to other hunters in PvE.
