I’ve been toying around playing a healer and I really like disc (especially Voidweaver) as well as Holy. So I’m wondering how they’ll be in midnight
I’m not an expert on them at all so even looking over the changes I’m feel like I can’t fully understand the gameplay implications of some of the changes without playing it. So I’m just looking for insight from more qualified peeps. How are priest healers looking in midnight?
Holy is all over the place rn and apparently disc has been putting up semi-decent numbers in raid but I hear it doesn’t feel good to play because of how the talents are set up

According to AutomaticJak (highly recommend his videos)
Holy puts out decent numbers but where the healing comes from is too passive. Not enough player choice in the moment to moment. Lots of flash healing.
And disc is quite strong. Though ironically it’s most strong in raid, and less in m+. (A direct swap from disc in TWW.)
I can only relay information I’ve seen from people more knowledgeable than me because my healing testing has been extremely limited this beta. But I hope it helps.

Seems like the disc talent tree is trying to separate oracle and voidweaver builds too much and both will suffer because of it.
And considering fistweaving monk is having their maintenance buff to convert damage to healing removed and will be able to do so all the time feel pretty bad as voidweaver imo.
I’m really looking forward to holy. The only think that I don’t like about holy right now is light weaver is pointless if your not using PoH.
Disc’s numbers are looking good but the gameplay is looking flatter and more boring- far fewer skill buttons to cover emergencies or keep engagement.

Disc - Oracle has been streamlined which is good if you wanted it streamlined and bad if you didn’t. Less skill expression, less fiddliness, still very direct and powerful and will shine in M+ and tread water in raids.
Disc - Voidweaver is a bit messier and doesn’t feel as well tuned as Oracle.
Holy - Archon is in an OK spot but Holy is underperforming across the board and is feeling the pinch of being so aggressively pruned when it was already a very straightforward design.
Holy - Oracle can potentially present with a core healing rotation of three spells, and while one of those spells feels amazing to press when you’ve got the 745 talents supporting it the spec feels like one of those fake storefronts on a Hollywood set.
So basically…Disc (Oracle) in a good spot and will likely be in the upper echelon of healers once again, newcomers to Disc will appreciate the step down in complexity, long time Disc lovers will feel neutered. Holy is gasping for air at the back of the healer rankings yet again and is beginning to feel like a developer whipping post.

Side question: Does oracle still have that weird spell effect on their face?
I wasn’t the biggest fan of that if I’m being honest
I’m guessing oracle will be what you’ll have to play in competitive m+ at the start due to low haste levels. Voidweaver will be better as the xpac goes in with secondary stats climbing.
Disc is a lot of fun regardless. Unique healing style.
It really is. I’ve been playing mine the last few days and I like how offensive I can be. It feels like I’m helping my group kill things instead of standing there waiting for someone to take damage so I can heal
i know I’m not technically doing more, but being more offense oriented makes it feel more helpful to me

Holy is undertuned but I am enjoying Disc a lot.
Yes
I agree with his opinion.
Holy should get sw:pain back, and they must PUSH the healing by a lot.
If i could say something bout it: scrap the boring holy words…and push the normal heal spells: esp. prayer of healing, bring back circle of healing etc. etc.
Only spamming flash heal is super boring!
And i do not like prayer of mending at all.
Holy needs a total rework. Oh ya..and they should NOT delete light-well.
I rly like that spell
P.S: Bring a smite-dps spec, that would be super^^
Is disc going to play similarly to the way it does now?
I know we’re losing the set bonus so no more machine gun voidblast, but overall is it going to be similar? I really like the playstyle right now and I’d hate to have it change and I don’t like it anymore

Holy is significantly improved in non-raid environments. The gameplay global to global feels much more flexible and fun with less reliance on pure Flash Heal spamming. The whole toolkit is more complete and competitive with other healers which is a first for Holy, ever.
Disc has been streamlined well, such that its core gameplay loop of PW:S, Penance & PW:R feels smooth and powerful for Oracle in particular. Some of the talent options have been underwhelming such as Mindbender attached to Evangalism and SW:D having a 40% chance to proc SF (getting changed shortly).
Smite is no longer the core Atonement mechanism for Oracle and so Smite talents can also feel lacking. But the core toolkit of Disc is so good that they don’t feel like huge issues.
On beta at the moment, Disc is probably the second best healer behind Rdruid and Hpriest isn’t far behind that. Perhaps even close enough that they’re somewhat equal in certain dungeons and situations. Holy’s biggest problem right now is it’s reputation.
Some people mistakenly think the challenge and complexity of healing stems from the rotational elements of their action bar as if they’re playing a DPS spec. So they see some healing specs losing a particular button or buff management responsibility and parrot that healing is becoming “easier” or too simple. It isn’t.
It’s actually becoming more dynamic and flexible. “Vibe healing” is back. Both Holy and Disc have the flexibility, balanced healing profile and toolkits to handle that well (in dungeons, don’t know about raid), even though it’s done with fewer keybinds.
Don’t listen to anyone who says healing is easier in Midnight because some boring buff management button is gone or that specs are too simple because a spell has been removed.

Fistweaver is sleeper good on beta and prepatch atm. Even more insane since the 500% ReM buff.
Might take a while for streamers to catch on and publicize it, similar to how they were struggling before finding the SG/MT/EF build. IMO MW is stronger now than it was when CJL was bugged.

I’ve been playing oracle in the prepatch and it feels really good
My only major critique of it is I think it burns mana a little bit too fast, but other than that the game play feels fantastic so far

Tried the (wildly overtuned) Timewalking as Oracle Disc. It serviced, but was so incredibly bare bones and felt like it did not have the tools to manage emergencies. Not a good first impression; it made me pass on running M+13s. I think I’ll pass on Midnight, unless they undo the prunings.

In terms of pure HPS, holy is still pumping. My brother mains an Oracle Holy Priest, we tried a few random battlegrounds yesterday. He is still topping the charts by a great margin, often doubling the healing of other healers in the match. He did this in TWW too. So I feel like they didn’t really miss out on HPS. He does say they took away a lot of the complexity of the spec, maybe that’s something people enjoy. We were able to get 2600 in TWW with his holy priest, and we will probably be able to do even better in midnight (only had a bit of time at the end of the season since we returned late) so I think if you are looking for an HPS juggernaut you might try out Holy Oracle. Best of luck!
Holy is fully dead in solo war mode gameplay.
I’ve been extensively testing both specs and using both available hero choices on each. I have been following my own ideas as well as jak’s and other creators. Both specs can heal well, disc feels a bit boring unless you are playing the full shadow side build which is very fun but lacks some single target burst healing. Holy feels a bit more fun over-all in my opinion but i would say archon is better than oracle by a decent margin for raw numbers. Ironically my favorite combination of all in terms of game play is holy oracle combo.
Holy is strong. Disc is pathetically under tuned at the moment.
