"Housing? That will cost us a raid tier..."

Yeah, anytime they talk about something with the words “Something we’d love to do in the future” it probably means no.

This i completely agree with, Blizzard should be spending some big bucks on the people that stick around for the long haul, not people who vanish after they’re done with the latest raid tier.

hehe… no more woodworking in WoW

Beyond that, they need to go back and just…do away with the friggin lock outs/time gates on freakin’ everything in a retroactive manner.

If people wanna play and play and play, let them friggin’ do it, stop it with the ‘play only our way, and as much as we say so we can train you like some scum suckin’ mobile game’

Why does everyone mention Garrisons when advocating for player housing? Garrisons are nothing like player housing.

I think the cold hard reality of the situation is that Blizzard has crunched their numbers and the data tells them that people like me who will be frustrated with stupid time gates but still stick around are a safer bet than the people that would potentially chew through all of the content in a month and then quit for another patch. Whatever the data says, it says that the current system of time gating the crap out of everything they do gets them more played time/engagement levels which results in more opportunities for people to buy tokens or other crap from the store.

Y’all are still paying the sub every month. It’s been over a decade, why would he change his mind now if he knows most people will just stick around anyway? Especially when deciding to make that trade-off is definitely going to cost raiders’ subs.

WoD was only missing one raid tier. Highmaul was the intro raid. Blackrock Foundry was the first raid tier and Hellfire Citadel was the second raid tier. Castle Nathria was more of a full fledged raid tier than an intro raid, so we got 3 raid tiers in SL. What we didn’t get was the basic, easy raid like Highmaul, Emerald Nightmare and and Uldir.

But this time, they really are listening to us.

Still the wrong us Ion. You are listening to the wrong us…

Daybreak only had what 8 devs? Blizzard may have hundreds but they were all drinking and going from cube to cube to harass the women working there.

I think Ion may have meant to say Housing would cost us a few days of drinking ourselfs into a stupor at work, Ain’t nobody got time for that!

Player housing won’t last the first month it’s in the game before it’s abandoned

“Would likely take multiple Expansions!” – “Would cost a raid tier” – These aren’t even excuses for why ‘We can’t do that’ or WHY ‘It can’t be done’ – This is a flat out ADMISSION of horrendous mismanagement… To flat out STATE that you recognize this is something so big that it’s become a literal major marketing point, but somehow you STILL don’t invest in it?

Yes… It WOULD take multiple Expansions… No “LIKELY” to it… Why? Because they’ve already started the system, and if they just removed the mission table (AKA - The End-Game Progression Tie-in), then the Garrisons would be a fantastic start… A system that was founded in a previous expansion, and picked up in a later one… OH WOW… IMAGINE THAT! IT TOOK MULTIPLE EXPANSIONS! That’s not an excuse, or an admission of mismanagement… That’s a statement of such blunt truth, that it’s literally JUST THAT… A STATEMENT… Nothing MORE… When you state the obvious objective factual truth, relative to a given time scale, then you’re not providing an excuse… You’re just providing a timescale… Which makes this statement a DEFLECTION… STOP GASLIGHTING ME WATCHER! THAT’S HARASSMENT AND HATEFUL!

“Would cost a raid tier” – I’m sorry… I didn’t realize this was Raiding Warcraft… I thought this was the WORLD of Warcraft… This game production company keeps talking about returning “Home” – Well… What HOME are we returning to? To me, it feels like we’re all a bunch of murder hobos that hangout homelessly in a city, when in fact we could by all rights afford to live with Shelter, but for some reason refuse to do so… Honestly, it’s kind of hateful to the World of Azeroth and its citizens…

The funny thing being retextures can be the “easier” part of the project .

Model…done.

Clipping taken care as best as possible…done (there will always be clipping, nature of the beast there…best you cna do is not have it so bad its ridiculous sometimes)

Texture is there even. Open it up…make that red blue. Or purple. No yellow.

Hardest part of retexture can be theoretical stuff. Color theory geek fight time. For the truly devoted…they don’t even use color names. they use codes.

Omg artisttX…we ain’t doing RBG 0,0, 255. What the hell is with you and that color dude! We need subtle like 127,176, 255.

Folks need to stop acting like this company deserves any compromises from the player base. They need to create good product or not get paid period. If I produced such bad results at my job I’d be unemployed by mid BFA expansion so yes I am being harsh but they deal with millions or billions of dollars.

Didn’t we get 3 raids WoD?

  1. Highmaul
  2. Blackrock Foundry
  3. Hellfire Citadel

Ya… I felt utterly insulted for them to come at me with, “We hear your feedback about creating systems, only to dump them in a later expansion” – Only to turn around and dump one of the longest standing systems in the game for a rebranded version it from a different game…

Straight up? The only thing that will bring me back to this game after my sub runs out, will be housing… Otherwise? … I gave em 17 years… Far longer than I should have… I’ll go provide my feedback to a company that won’t contradict itself with absurdities about listening to feedback, less than 10 minutes into an expansion announcement.

I still don’t get player housing. Where would it be? Another phased zone for players to exclude themselves from an MMO

WoW will catch up to everquest eventually.

It’s just that everquest levels of innovation with guild halls and housing are light years ahead of what a small indie company like Blizzard is able to do.

Someday they will be able to hire the talent to copy this marvel of computer engineering but at the moment it’s just impossible.

You all seem to be downplaying the amount of work and money this would entail to do it right.

Thing is…even if it cost us an expansion of raids, player housing literally could be the greatest investment of time that offers an unfathomable amount of return in time played mechanics like ever and that is for players of all stripes.

Imagine the garrison but for your entire account…where you can unlock hundreds and thousands of doodads and knickknacks and all multiplied with racial variants. Imagine every boss has a trophy you can collect and display that would be timestamped when you got the kill and higher difficulties offer better looking versions of said trophy. Imagine you can have an armory where you can display your most prized armor sets.

Crafting can explode in content as being the primary vessels for making all the pieces. Your home would be something that persists and is constantly added to expansion after expansion. Heck it could even travel with you because magic…and the thing is it largely can be pieced together using the already existing assets WoW has. Every footstool and bed and random doodad strewn all over the place could be a housing element available to the players to acquire, make, and then customize and display. Can even add quest hooks in to recruit people to reside in your home like barbers, transmorgifiers, auctioneers, etc.

I’m just saying the potential is absolutely there and I can guarantee you it would see and generate more churn and hours of player investment far more than multiple raids ever will.
